Tropical Fruit Discussion / Looking for a windbreak/hedge plant that can take freeze with a fast growth rate

Like the tittle says, I want something that can take the rare freeze with a fast growth rate. I plan on the occasional trimming (8-9ft) with a spread no more than 10ft wide. Was looking at neem but read that it can't take anything less that 30 o F. Murraya koenigii (curry tree) is a fast grower (I see some in Broward neighbourhoods) and the trimming can be used as mulch. Podocarpus was on the list but it seems like a slow grower for my needs. Recommendations welcomed. Bamboo is expensive

? I just wanna cut the dead, dried wood off my mangoes and see if sprouts above the root stock emerge. But that can open a window for disease on an already stressed plant. Waiting sucks. My Cotton Candy is already pushing growth above the graft union.
