Like the tittle says, I want something that can take the rare freeze with a fast growth rate. I plan on the occasional trimming (8-9ft) with a spread no more than 10ft wide. Was looking at neem but read that it can't take anything less that 30 o F. Murraya koenigii (curry tree) is a fast grower (I see some in Broward neighbourhoods) and the trimming can be used as mulch. Podocarpus was on the list but it seems like a slow grower for my needs. Recommendations welcomed. Bamboo is expensive . Looking to run a 200ft length for the windbreak.

To those who frequent the Miami International Airport or have noticed the numerous mature and bearing coconut trees in the uncovered parking lot near Concourse "G". Any idea what type they are?
Big green coconuts on some trees fruiting at what I'd estimate to be 20ft.

I was there. Since this one today, the only other one I had been to was Broward back in 2012 I think. The facility was big enough. Saw some big names I'm familiar with like Going Bananas, Hopkins, Wayne Clifton, and Flying Fox Fruits. When I saw Adam there I remembered the thread about where is Adam and why isn't he answering messages . He was busy and at one point he had to control the crown of poeple that started grabbing his yellow pitingatuba fruits in the trays he had on the front desk. Was hoping Toptropicals would be there too and to my surprise they were supposed to be but they had some mechanical problems and were delayed.  I left at around lunch time so I do not know if they made it. Went there solely for mulberries and got four different types and some jabos I didn't already have. Spent just under $300. I was surprised to see how many Cotton Candy mango plants different nurseries had. I think Wayne had the most. Also saw multiple Edgar , CC, Kathy, a lone Orange Essence. Pickering seemed to be the star. Chatter heard when walking through the crowds near the mangoes were about Maha Chanok and Kesar. Also saw some carambolas I havent heard of like Red Dumpster and some other one whose name eludes me now (Possum Gold?). Kajang carambola still eludes me. Saw "B-10" and apparently this is not "Bell" but a much older variety (close to 40 yrs old). Saw lots of Luc's garcinia seedlings for sale at this one stall for $50 (?) a pop about 6" high with 2-4 leaves at best. I hope the mulberries I bought turned out to be what the label says. When packing my "Giant" in the car, I only then noticed the pot had Perv. written on it. LOL.

Anyone recognizes it?

This was planted sometime in July/August this year. I did plant some garcinia mangostana seeds over the summer but I find it hard to believe that the growth was so much since then. Comparing it to a lemon drop mangosteen seedling I was given, it looks very similar (stalk, leaves arrangement etc). What do the more experienced think? Thanks.

Mango season is done in my yard. No more mangoes on the trees and the last mangoes of the season were the Maha Chanoks (picked a couple of days ago) in which I have 6 left counter-top ripening. This was my first time testing brix and it was a very interesting task- and I encourage other mango enthusiasts to do so. I used the RF15 type.

Just as it was fun trying to guess the brix of a mango before testing it, it was even more puzzling as to why some mangoes tasted much much sweeter than what the refractometer indicated. About the methodology, I only tested mangoes that tasted at the very least- sweet, to me. I also tested "first for the the season" mangoes as well from various cvs. in my yard and from generous forum members. Big thanks to gnappi, zands, and simon-grow.

Best mango of the 2016 season for me was zands's Lemon Zest. It knocked my socks off on first bite and I knew before measuring that the brix would be really high. Glad I decided last minute to take the two you offered zands and not let last seasons experience deter me. Your Sweet Tarts as well were top notch like TrulyTropical's own last year. Of the two, LZ is my new favorite. My Dot's were excellent again as well- especially coming down to later in the season. NDMs were sweet as honey as well- a different type of sweet compared to LZ. Cushman's tasted very sweet as well but I do not know why they kept on measuring below 16 brix. Highest individual brix goes to Juliette with 26. The Madame Francis mangoes I got from gnappi impressed me. They were big and sweet and the tree was very productive and healthy. I won' mind at all growing that cultivar.

I bought some plastic pot saucers (1" depth, 8" to 10" diameter) as I noticed this past couple days that when watering my fruit 1gal - 3 gal fruit plants the water would sometimes bypass soaking through the soil and take the route of least resistance which is between the inner sides of the container and the soil, thus draining right out. I have some young sugar apple, mango, sapodilla and carambola seedlings. Should I be worries about root rot?

My luck cause I was debating whether or not on getting a tree after 1) not ever tasting the fruit- and  2) asking known mango lovers around if they liked the fruit to which some said they didn't care for it. Met Murahilin there and I got to taste a 9681 (I believe) that was in the fridge. It was delicious. I tasted mamey sapote in it and the sweetness was noticeable among the creaminess/starchiness. I'm sure the temperature played a role. "Hell Yeah!!!" Delicious. I was sold. I bought a couple of fruits including a tree.
They also had some big sapodilla and black sapote fruit for sale.

Looking for Angie and Imam Pasand mangoes. 2-3 to taste.

Currently on my trees in descending numbers are Julie, Dot, Mallika, Tog Bi Con., and Maha Chanok. 
Preferably in Broward County. I'm in East Pembroke Pines.

Not too fond of the systemic bacterial/viral/fungicide stuff, but the fert is a slow release type though the N content is very high.
