Here's a side by side, with the mother tree (left) and the rooted cutting, that confirms my theory that these develops faster than seed grown plants.
Hi Grapebush,
Good job! I will try your method to rooting the Jaboticaba. Can I get from you some information. What is your everage temperature per year and the actual temperature in summer.
Thanks in advance.
cheers
Thank you for your comment and interest.
My average temperature trough the year is arround 18º (celsius), and in summer it goes usually from 23º to 28º, with some exceptions, where it can be slightly lower, or higher, up to 33º.
Cheers,
Nélio.
My three trees started to fruit last year and have continued to fruit until now. Very tasty fruit with
very thin skin. I notice your trees have perfect dark green leaves and perfect tips. Do you grow your trees
under a canopy of trees or do they get direct sunlight? They look great!
I grow the red hybrid jaboticaba in between wall and the bird cage. They do get direct sunlight in the afternoon.
You might want to throw a moringa tree in there too, my parrot loves chewing on morninga
cant wait for mine to fruit.Mine is just 9 months old and about 17cm tall and quite scraggly

Hi! I'm interested in buying 2 or 3 Jaboicabas - my first ones. What would you recommend for 1. ease of fruiting in containers and 2. the best but most different flavors. Thanks.
Also, where's the best place to read on how to grow and fruit these plants?
You can try growing the red jabo ,the grimal or coronata var restinga. The red jabo and coronata restinga are early bearing which start fruiting in three years. The red jabo like what i read can be easily grown in container and seems to be fast growing and i have one seedling nearly 4 months. The coronata restinga and grimal can handle tap water
Arvind, dont worry about the tap water here. I water my red hybrid jaboticaba twice a day only with tap water.
Wow never though of that. Thanks for the info.No wonder lots of companies selling devices that make water alkaline here and they say its good for our health

I'm jealous! I've had a grafted red jaboticaba in the ground for three years that still hasn't flowered.
Feed them with good fertilizer and water them twice a day
Do they require special fertilizer?
How it the fruit?

Very nice, congrats, I had seeds from Oscar from 2013 too, but I didnt grow them well till thew last year, so mines are 1 feet tall and waiting for the first flowers now...
Heya buddy mine have flower buds as well. Now you need the scarlet as they fruit more than a year faster. The pulsan seeds and J33 jackfruit seeds you sent me are trees that are bearing fruit now and the Garcinia prainiana are over 1m high..
