Can you please tell me the origin of the Mexican Garcinia? Is it endemic species. And the reliable scientific name for the plant?

 cheers

For me Pulasan have the best taste as well the R3( Rambutan Gula Batu a.k.a Penang No.3 ). By my opinion its depends on the individual to
taste and judge which one is the best.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Jaboticaba Disease Spreading to California
« on: February 23, 2013, 06:05:25 AM »
We have been researching Janthinobacterium lividum jabuticabensis and have come up with a foliar spray that kills it over the period of a year if applied weekly. Guaranteed to work or your money back. Sorry we can't say what the ingredients are as that is a proprietary secret gained through painstaking research. The one gram bottle costs $199 but will last for a year. Please consult us if interested in distributorship.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Ideal soil for chempedak
« on: February 21, 2013, 10:20:44 AM »
All my Artocarpus : jacks , marang , kwai muk , pedalai are doing great , growing strong , only the chempedaks are healthy but growing dead slow , stunted . Even those growing at another location at sea level .
That makes me think there is something missing in the ( Mexican ) soil .
Any idea ?

Hi Luc,

Maybe the rainforest soil composition or the equatorial climate.

They are similar to the borneo small leafed mangosteen that also has a point and a small star.

Hi Mike,

There are varieties of mangosteen with larger trees and wider leaves and the fruit shape like spinning top. Pretty thick skin and the fruit flesh is sweeter. This varieties mangosteen is called "mesta", "masta" or "mestor" and often found in the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia.
If in Pahang, you can find many of these trees are planted in Kerdau village, Temerloh, Pahang.
