Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Re: WTB Bamboo cuttings.
« on: January 14, 2018, 11:23:21 AM »
Yes,  most clumping bamboo can be grown from clum cuttings, cut right below node and just one section is needed then cut right below top node and kept water in upper node section plant bottom node in pot. All ways keep water node, new growth will come from buried node. ;)

I prune my white Sapote's any time of year but you do have to be aware of flowers and fruit!White Sapote's like to naturally be tall but you can keep them small by topping and tipping back branches, best way is to drop crotch prune and then tip back remaining branches. We you top any tree you get vigorous regrowth (which sometimes is what you want) but by drop crotch pruning you cut back tree to existing branch then shape remaining branches. :)

This may help some folk's who hand pollinate it used to stick brush will pollen in flower and twirl but not any more, just one stick straight in flower seems to keep seed count down. I learned this from Alex @ Papaya Tree Nursery on one of his video's. ;)

Beautiful drops Frank, you have developed quite the food forest right in town amazing! You've got the almost perfect climate down there congrats 8) :)
Yeah Frank we were supposed to get 2"-3" but got only 1.4 inches over night but we'll take it, still not enough to wash salt's down below rootline. Down south Santa Barbara to Ventura got hammered which they didn't need after fire!!

All good advice so far as for Surinam Cherry, I've moved a few big ones just cut back foliage and cut roots with as big a root ball as you can handle. Replant and keep moist it might defoliate but should pop right back. Should be able to do same with Cherimoya and maybe macadamia but mac's can be temperamental when moved! best of luck on your new adventure ;)  You should cover with shade cloth after moving until they show sign of good regrowth!!

I'am not getting notifications thru hotmail. :(

congrats, I think there a underrated excellent fruit 8)

Thanks

Why underrated?

there should be very high quality varieties out there, we should grow just these ones... it is very useful here because the cold climate normal cherry doesnt almost produce fruits in our region, but e. involucrata does it well.
I sad underrated because some folks think fruit is to small and not enough flavor! I've found my seedling are getting better every year, taste keeps intensifying  ;) 8)
