Tropical Fruit Discussion / Will anthracnose kill small mango seedlings?
« on: August 05, 2017, 03:52:28 PM »
Hello, I just recently planted a mango seedling, and i see dark, sunken spots that seem to be spreading from leaf to leaf, and tip burn is starting to occur on the new and old leaves. I just sprayed copper octonoate on it to kill off the active spores. Will it kill the tree? Thanks, Matt

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Planted my baby OS mango seedling!
« on: July 31, 2017, 09:04:27 PM »
Hello guys, I just wanted to share with you my first mango seedling planted. I hope it survives! It was rootbound so I planted it in sandy loam, 1/4 inch covered the seed, 2 separate sprouts, mulched it with happy frog mulch, and no roots were damaged. Do rabbits eat mango leaves, they don't seem to, but you always have to be careful:D. I have it under a drip line that runs 3x a day 10 minutes each.

Thats wonderful news, I'm currently in the process of building a greenhouse to help my ultra tropicals get a boost before going to the big bad outdoors. I wonder if that will help them recover. Thanks, Matt

Tropical Fruit Discussion / How do I germinate Pindaiba seeds?
« on: July 28, 2017, 06:43:42 PM »
Hello, I got Pindaiba seeds a month ago, and I heard from Oscar that they need Gibberelic acid to germinate properly. Can it work without the acid? And are there other methods to break dormancy? Thanks, Matt

Use pure sandy loam(also known as Fill Sand) to start the annonas or really any fruit tree you desire. NO COMPOST! or any organic matter in the growing medium.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / What is this seedling "dead spot"
« on: July 21, 2017, 12:37:41 PM »
Hello, my Sweet tart mango seedling seems to have a brown streak across the lower stem, Eill it kill it? Or is it harmless. And if it kills it, what should I do to prevent my precious little seedling from dying? Thanks Matt. The leaves look perfectly normal, but the stem is another story.

Thank you! Now how many days should I put them under the indirect sunlight?

Also, here are pics of the seedlings, are they suffering any damage?

are mango trees able to handle the full sun when grown in a lit garage for the first 2 months of their lifetime?

I use those stakes for propping up my young or lanky trees, I also trellis stuff with them. They do tend to bend easily, and don't really have a sharp enough edge to strike through harder soils.

I planted the soursop last september, was defoliated when I dug it up, its recovered real nicely, and I fertilize with osmocote to be on the safe side and giving them a head start

Mines is in the ground and also looks beautiful, but it hasnt established, just inching away currently, with 6 hours of sunlight under a small loquat tree for protection, I also have a 2nd soursop seedling that I just planted 2 months ago. I also have a Rollinia seedling Here are the pics, are they healthy enough? Should I speed up the growth or let them grow their own pace. My cherimoya also has black spots on the younger lower leaves, whats causing that?  Thanks, Matt

Hello Adam, I sent you 4 emails throughout the year, asking about some Annona Salzmanii seeds, along with some Red Sugar apple, and also some Jaboticaba aureana seeds. I would like to buy them from you while the weather is still warm.

Thanks, Matt

I checked today, and it seems there was some minor dieback on the lychee tree, I'm slightly worried, but the bottom leaves look great, I also fertilized with a light application of Chicken Manure today. Will it survive this year? And how many years till it establishes?

Thanks, Matt

My passion Fruit Vine is really large, and is shaded, with only dappled sunlight coming through. Transpiration also helps me keep in the humidity. Wondering if these conditions would make it suitable for my precious durian seedling and Mango grafting.
