According what i read in this forum. Mangosteen root system is very slow. Also they like india s clay soil.
Not sandy soil. Seashore grows faster and stronger and likes sandy soil. And there is compatibility between the two
.

We learn from success and from mistakes.
I used a technique with the two plants, one as a rootstock and the other a small seedling at the stage before the leaves open. I  perforated the rootstock and i made the seedling pass through  the hole . They were in a battle between the two for several months. At once the luc loose all the leaves, but now the upper part of the rootstock died and the Luc has healthy new leaves. Showing the incompatibility and the Luc strenghts.

I read that is an interesting plant to have.
 I had 4 plants in small containers. not only that they survived my lack of watering they perforated the container and in short time they become strong trees.
