I would just leave it alone.  It might recover.

I planted 3 in ground.  They lasted 2-3 years, but did poorly, never reaching above - few feet high.  They definitely did not do  well in my yard.   As a comparison, I have had luck with breadfruit.

Drawbacks? Yes.  It does not taste as good as a number of the new Zill varieties.

Mine produced a medium/heavy load last year, after a few years of frustratingly low production.  Currently in the early stage of flowering.

Definitely worth growing if you have patience and can get it to produce.  They are like little Flavor Bombs.

Irma, + a warm winter.  I am anticipating a lousy crop.  Add to that some unusually ravenous rodents due to diminished food sources.  😬

8
After discussing with Seadation - mine is a little under 5 years from seed.  In ground most of that time.

I doubt mine will set or hold this year.  If it does, I will update.

Wow.  How old is your tree?  Did you plant it as a seed or transplant, if so how long ago?

I have been trying to figure out how long ago I planted the seedling.   I am guessing 5 or 6 years.  IIRC, my friend Seadation gave me the tiny seedling ( 3 or 4 inches), and I planted it while very small.  He got a few seeds I believe directly from Luc, and this was one of those early ones.

This is my Amber.  It has been near standing water from the recent heavy rains.  The trunk was never in standing water but part of the root system was underwater for 7 days.

NP.  Yeah, some of the seedlings stayed very tiny, so eventually I just clipped those individuals at ground level.   There is a lot of size variation in the remaining seedlings, with the center one being the largest.

No, zero fruit and actually not really even flowering.  I'm surprised, at well over 6 years old, I would expect some activity.  But nope - nada.  The cluster has some decent mass to it overall, but the individual trunks are not that large.  Maybe thats the issue, or maybe these particular seedlings just take a long while to flower.  Tough to say, but I am getting impatient !!

Congrats !  Excited to hear how it tastes.  My Berry seedling has only males so far this year.  Amber is a machine with 6 fruit so far ...

Interesting....

I do something quite similar to Gambit.  There is definitely labor involved, but it will protect those fruit that you cannot tolerate squirrels getting into.  And being able to re-use is a definite plus.

Mine have never made it anywhere near January.  It can set in multiple waves which is nice.

Looks like VP to me.

I like and appreciate Carrie in both taste and texture.  It is finicky mango and getting it right as far as picking and ripening is important.  I definitely wouldn't do all that washing, etc.   Off the main subject and onto Ice Cream mango - I think it's excellent, and yes, more potent flavor than Carrie.  IMO, better than Carrie and amongst my favorites.
