If you like sweet you may want to consider Honey Jar. It is sweet and is juicier than others I grow.
Only negatives to Honey Jar is the fruit size and perhaps the thorns. They are relatively small.

I just bought it last Jan and put it in 15 gallons pot. It shows a little sign of waking up . I hope I will have the chance to taste it

I planted a sugar can in 30 gallons pot last year and I had decent crop. I don’t know about this year. Will see

The tree is this big . From the picture the tree  look big but it’s really not that big .

Do you have time to do airlayer ?  I saw some people in YouTube doing airlayer on mango..i

I just bought a case of 3 fruits at Thuan Phat supermarket in Linda vista. They are sold out fast at $5.99/lbs. it is slightly sweet not as sweet as the one I tried at my country 21 years ago. I have a tree here but have not given me any fruit. Rilght now my tree doesn’t have any leaves left on the branch. I’m afraid it will die because of cold weather.

I wonder if they are different variety or just simply Li? I have Sherwood and sugar cane and think about to add a few more into my collection? I like sweet taste . Is  Shanxi Li. sweeter than Li? Do you know what variety is usually sold in the super market? I don't like those since they are spongy and tasteless.
What about GA 866? Does it produce A lot of fruits and taste sweet?

Last year I had a tall spindly one in the ground that was killed by frost, but it was a weak plant with foliage only at the top, planted in an open area at the bottom of a slope. Sue/Ver Sapotes grow very easily here in our area Bush, take some of my fruit if you'd like, not many of us eat it anymore.
I was thinking about grafting the Green Sapote on half of the tree since it's growing so vigorously and very cold hardy.

Hell, I can give you scions if you'd like.

Are Sue/ver bitter nearby the skin, waxy?

Airlayering was difficult for me too. I did 4 this year and none of them worked.
Seedlings grow pretty fast though. My grafting of sapodilla is very slightly better.

I did airlayer on 3 branches and they all died.i plan to do on one branch this spring instead of 3 at the same time like last year .

This season I have 7 fruits and so far i don't have any crack. I wrap ziplog bag around it with big holes on the sides. I don't know if that is the reason keep them not to crack.
Back to your cracked fruit, I guess you have to pick it to prevent further cracking. It is ripe If you see yellow line between the eyes, and singly green peel

One think about Ongs that is different from other nurseries is he doesn't put a 5 gallon plant in a 15 gallon container. He is honest and he has the most diverse plants for sale. 40 varieties of Wax Jambu!Go up to California Tropicals in Vista and you'll see some pretty high prices. I saw a 45 gallon Chico for $4000. The guys that import some of the rare items have to pay quite a bit and then if the inspector from the AG dept. sees one illegal (hitchhiker) bug then everything within 15 feet has to be destroyed. Also it takes years to grow some of these sub-tropicals up to a size that customers want.

He also has good customer service skills that sometimes make me forget the price until I came home  and looked back at the price tag and wondered why I bought it so high .

My Honey Jar went dormant, but is now vigorously pushing new growth, too, like it was Spring.  Unlike your Sugarcane, mine is currently staying dormant.

Do you think it will gradually go to sleep soon or start to wake up like spring? My husband told me the tea really does the magic on the tree. I don't know if it is the case.

Last night I put the Rat Zapper next to the papaya plant and this morning found a zapped rat.  I'll keep putting it out at night to see if there are more.
Strange because this is the first time that any of the backyard critters have gone after the papayas.

I experienced some cracking of my fruit as well, especially during the heat wave. I try to keep the moisture level consistent in order to eliminate one of the many possible causes of the cracking.

Look like you have more than one variety right Simon? What are those names? My fruits,  look similar to the first pic you posted. How old is your tree? Mine is almost 3 years, and have not grown much since I bought it.

It can be from uneven moisture levels, lack of Calcium or other minerals, changes in weather such as going from heat waves to cold weather and also from fertilizing at improper times. If you randomly fertilize, the fertilizers can cause rapid expansion of the fruit which can split the Fruit.

You may also notice splitting of fruit when trees go from fruiting to vegetative growth. Do you have a picture of your tree?

I just cut down 2 branches of fruits that my tree produced this year. I noticed the tree flushed out new growth from the top

Probably extra watering along with the heat we got a few weeks ago.
All of my longans turned out fine, I really haven't watered them much.

I think I watered too much. I heard longan will drop fruits if they don't get enough water. Plus I plant it in the pot, so I am afraid the tree lacks of water if I don't water it for 2 days
