Congratulations! What a nice surprise. I'm with you, think they are amazingly delicious fruits, not sure why they are not more popular.

Noticed the same thing on my biriba/rollinia tree; once all the leaves fell off was happy to find a few fruit. The waiting is the hard part.

I tried mammee americana at the Kampong years ago, and it was delicious. No onion flavor, lol. Don't know where that comes from, but it was nothing but tasty and enjoyable. Was told the trees get very large, wish had room for one.

I haven't brewed in years, but have noticed that the pomegranate arils that we buy from the supermarket ferment easily and quickly. It smells potent, and you can taste the alcohol when biting into them. Might be a good fruit to try brewing and making wine with. 

Have heard pigeon pea is good. Soil corrector too.

Mixing mints, lemon balm, basils, and other herbs underneath some of my trees. Encouraging them to spread and grow on their own. My hope is that some plants are annoying to certain pests, and will outcompete weeds.

That's a good question. She did not have any casturi trees ready when I was there a couple of months ago. Asked about scions via email, waiting for a reply. The hard part might be her finding the time to cut scions and send out, as she is basically running Fairchild Farm by herself and maybe a helper or 2.

Great little butterfly tree. I hang a lot of plants in mine, like herbs and orchids, as it can get quite branchy.

Sweetheart is great here in FL. Not too tall of a tree, and fat tasty nanners that freeze well. Definite winner.

Barbados cherry tastes much better than the Surinam cherries I have tasted. My small tree (3-4 feet) produced a few dozen berries a few months ago, and is flowering again. Have been told that the taste improves with age of the tree.

I've been playing around with the flowers some, and think I was successful but the fruit must've dropped. Going to keep trying.

I recommend doing a garcinia section, with purple mangosteen (garcinia mangostana), Luc's garcinia, garcinia brasielensis, Cuban mangosteen (garcinia aristata), achachairu (g. humilis), seashore mangosteen (g. hombroniana), lemon drop (g. intermedia), g. forbesi, g. dulcis, g. xantho, and other tasty/edible varieties.

Here are a few more ideas:

Wild mangoes (kuini and casturi) along with choice mango cultivars.

Cacao, borojoa, and other related species. good understory trees

Different varities of passion fruit.

Willughbeia (augustifolia, edulis, roxb) vines/fruit.

Abiu

Moringa.

One more good reason for a trip to Iceland in the future.

Growing Kari and it is nice, sweet flavor, and refreshing.
