Oscar aren't they fighting over introducing a foreign scale type insect to attack these trees? Sounds like a bad idea IMO, curious to your opinion and whether that idea is dead or not....

I've been tempted to get the Strawberry Guava's at Lowe's as well. I have a friend who got one a few months and just got her first ripe fruit. She said it was very good, although small size fruit (size of a quarter). I have a Lemon Guava that puts out small tasty fruit. In CA I don't think we'll have as many worm/fruit fly problems as the FLA guys.

Does anyone know if they set better fruit with a cross pollinator?

FWIW Persian lime is the same as Bearss lime. Here in CA they are sold as "Bearss" for whatever reason.

Try what this guy does:

Hand Pollinating my Pineapple Guava Tree with a Paint Brush

I like the petals and the fruit. They grow well out here in Nor Cal

I've seen this pop up on other forums in the past. I think she is using some kind of molds to make the shape....

She knows what she likes I guess.....

Yeah the owl picture is really cool. I like those Ibis as well, we don't get them in San Jose!

Mulberries are great. It's kind of cool to see these blackberry type fruits growing on trees. I'm sure you can get all kinds of citrus and mangos from the neighbors or the store but how often can you get a hold of mulberries?

Would you recommend pruning off some of the top to counter the root loss?

Espalier...hadn't thought of that. I guess I could anchor some wiring into the brick....

Just read the "pugging" thread. Maybe I should try that. Although it might mean a lot less fruit though...

Wish I had taken the stake out earlier...oh well live and learn!

First Post! Like the forum very much....

I left a stake too long on this Lemon Guava and now it won't stand on its own. The top of the trunk is thicker than the middle. What should I do to correct this? And what time of year should I do it? (I'm in 9b, San Jose, CA).

Thanks for any input..
