Juanita is actually a Ponkan. Zone 7 is pushing it for anything but trifoliata & it's hybrids.

Cold Hardy Citrus / Re: The best tasting orange for coolder climate?
« on: January 04, 2017, 09:41:51 AM »
If you're 8b / 9a you should be able to grow just about any orange. You just want to get early ripening types if you don't want to protect the fruit. Hamlin is a great variety as is the Washington navel. US 119 is nasty if you ask me.

Yuck!

I agree with something on swingle.

2-3 feet, there's a reason they call this the low country...

82
The main citrus I have had a problematic issue with splitting are my navel oranges, both the Cara cara & the Washington.

This is the "Fast" trifoliata tree, 10+ years old & barely as tall as the 6' fence. (Swingle hanging over the fence)

Lmao! Yeah, I still have a bunch of agave.

Another problem you'll have if you don't water is fruit split. A heavy rain after a dry period, the tree takes up water faster than the peel can expand & causes the fruit to split. I try & keep my trees well watered, but still have some navels split after a heavy rain.

Had a few people ask about the fast flowering trifoliata. It is a dwarf, my mother plant is 10 years old and only about 7 ft tall. I'll get a photo up later today. I do have one year old seedlings that are dormant now. They are about a foot tall. I can not ship live plants to FL, TX, LA, AZ or CA...

Logee's red finger lime looks more like a bloodlime than a fingerlime...

Meyer lemons are horrible. I cut my two trees down & fed them to the chipper.
