Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Monster sugar apple!

Looking great! I had not seen such color before.

I thought the sugar apple is ready to eat since I see cracks between carpels.

Is that a Rollinia on the other side of the Soda can?

Thanks,
FruitFool

Hi, OCchris1,

I have not been to Little Saigon in San Diego.
Is there a specific shop that I should check out there?

Thanks,

I have not seen fruit bearing sugar apple trees at Ong's nursery. I go to the Asian grocery stores regularly
once or twice a week and in my 6+ years here, I have never seen (non frozen) sugar apple fruits for sale in any season.

My Florida bought little Na Dai SA tree is doing well but not yet bearing.

Thanks,

Hi, Har,

No tangle foot used.
Had only drowned the root zone in water after seeing lot of ants. It is possible that the bark
was already browning and I did not notice at that time.

It was alright with all green bark in my nursing area where I keep all my grafts under papaya
shade, I thought this plant is ready to go in ground (last week) so moved it out under another
tree where it gets some dappled sun light before moving to full sun.

Thanks,
FruitFool

Hello, Experts,

My ST graft on a seedling seems to have gotten some disease on the root stock, I see bark turning brown on the root stock, just above the plastic bag.
I saw lot of ant activity going in the plastic bag, so to get them out, I over-watered the root zone, I am not sure if that is the cause?

Please let me know how to save this young tree?

Thanks,
FruitFool

Hi, Dragon,

It was free mulch, I used chipdrop.com but you can't select the quantity and as in my case, you may get too much.
Getting it hauled away is not free.

Approach and cleft grafting of Guava is described in this link:

I myself have not tried guava grafting yet.

Hi, All,

I have about 4 fruits on my spicezee and it was planted this year as a bare root tree. Its around 7 ft tall.
I see holes in the leaves, anyone know what kind of pest could that be? Sorry no photos yet, will upload later.

Thanks,
FruitFool

Guayaba,

I see two buds on your Annona Rosada graft, which is more than some of my
sugar apple grafts, I am hopeful that your annona rosada graft would be a success!
