I don't think anyone will have fruit this early. We are a few weeks behind the palm beach season.

I dont have an answer for you but I would be happy to stop by and check on your mangos to see if any of them are ready while you are gon  ;D

And let us not forget the wonderful 'M-4', sibling of the 'Cotton Candy';

and the wonderful 'K-3', also known as 'Kathy'.  The latter, I only recommend for the coastal zone.

A few of both were sold last year.

If you had to pick between cotton candy or M4 given that yard space was the issue which one would you pick and why?

Alex,
How would you rate Peach cobbler in resistance to the new desieses and also sensitivity to sulfer as compared to the other members in its lineage?

Its likely resistant due to containing Gary/Julie genes ( great-great grandchild of Julie). The fruit has been completely clean thus far.

No phytotoxicity to sulfur observed. Really only a couple cultivars have that issue.
Sounds like a good fit for those of us up here in Merritt island with our cooler climate. Mine seem to be flowering profusely and setting well but are still young and small. It will be a few seasons untill I'm ready to report on how the fruit does up here.

which one is O-15 ? Butter cream?

No, Buttercream was already released last year.
O-15 has not been named ...I recall reading a post from squam256 that it was a Jakarta seedling.

I guess I missed buttercreams release, so many new ones to keep track of.

Careful the forum might have a melt down lol

It's the stuff nightmares are made of lol

It is pretty addictive but also very practical and is fun. I'm just getting started grafting myself and have had some success with cleft grafting but feel like that is not really the best way to top work a tree. Now that it is spring time I plan to try some veneer grafting to some over grown mango seedlings.

So while driving down tropical trail in south Merritt island I saw a large sign that said someone had gone into a local mango Orchard and cut down three trees right up by the road. I can only think of one reason someone would commit such a heinous crime, Revenge!!! But why? unhappy customer? disgruntled employee? ticked off neighbor? Random act of violence?

One thing I did note was that there was no actual fence restricting access to at least that portion of the property, just a vegetation screen of eureka palms blocking the view from the road but anyone could just walk right up to the trees.

I have a general question on topworki to slow growing cultivars.

It you were to top work a vigorous type to an Established slow growing type. I.e. peach cobbler or the legendary Orange sherbert to a Cogshall on a turpentine root stock would you still get vigorous growth on your new cultivator, as in would the Cogshall trunk grow fast enough to support sustained vigor? Or would the new cultivator reach a point where it is significantly slowed with a dwarfing effect from the Cogshall?

Last year mine set a ton but I took my eyes off of it for like 3 days and bam!!! Powdery mildew explosion killed them all off.  You guys make a strong case for keeping it, I guess not holding any fruit will just make it grow bigger and better for next year.  Would it do better in The ground?  Does anyone have pictures of their trees for comparison?

Here is both of mine in bloom, in Melbourne

Your trees look great Dwight. Mine is dieing back like it has fertilizer burn but I don't remember giving it any more than anything else? Luckily I just cleared out some room to actually put it and a few other trees in the ground with full sun so maybe it will recover. 🤞

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Jackfruit at whole foods

So while hitting up our local whole foods found this baby.  31.5lbs or there abouts.

Ive never tried jackfruit so this would be an expensive mistake.

Is the price at 2.49lb good and is this one worth getting or should i take a pass.

Thanks.

dc

save your money for a locally grown one even if you have to drive down to west palm . I think truly tropical has them in the mid summer season and you could pick up a few excellent mangos while your at it.

Most everything that looked big for it's pot had already been marked with tagging tape but more important than big for the pot is that everything looked really healthy. I have figured out the obvious to be true when planting trees. The root system and health of the tree is most important. Trees that look too big for the pot are, the roots need pruned when planted and the trunks have been girdled most of the time all slowing down the establishment of the trees. As for verities I de say stay with the clean disease resistant ones as disease pressures seem to be really high in our area.

Well played sir ...... but I won't even be a tiny blip on the radar up here in Merritt island.  I will have fun though and should be good for a few laughs along the way

Carrie seems to do very well in merritt island, consistent heavy producer with clean fruit thus far anyway.People  Love it or hate it but the oldest farm South of pineda seems to have a loyal following for there carries. Also, since you said you can buy from ZHPP they have a bunch of good looking carries as of yesterday.

If you like Pina Coladas

There getting lost to the rain

If you like spraying trees at midnight

then you'll have no reason to complain

If your not into mangos

Then you have half a brain!

One more disappointing year for my Pina Colada, looks like no fruit will set thanks to the wet winter despite spraying for anthracnose and PM. is anyone else having any luck? I have yet to get to even try one. Thank goodness i'ts in a 45gl pot and I wont have to dig it up or waist the yard space on it if it keeps these shenanigans up.

Just over the river on the island island we didn't see much damage at all despite a temp recorded as low as 31 for less than an hour onbth e coldest day.

Coconut cream at a friend's house in downtown Orlando looks like it's a gonner.

Look up "Day" Avocado. Medium cold tolerance probably much like the citrus that is or was commercially grown in Clermont.
