i only know a few that are metro accessible but are not big or interesting ones.

the best one is probably superplants but that's a bit far in villa altagracia. it's like an hour and a half away i believe. it has a lot of stuff. i am looking forward to go there again.

there's one at the botanical park dr rafael moscoso. it's open weekdays. they are all from seed. some are old and flower already.

every year there's a fair in the park and "la feria".  different nurseries sell grafted varieties so i buy then.

you can buy some fruit at supermercado nacional and there you have the seed.

there are more places but they are far...cotuí,bani...

icaco is such a beautiful plant.

will have to compare them with the ones i received from fruit lovers.

well you have to look at the us plant hardiness zone map to have an idea. i think it's the extreme minimum and not the average minimum.

i am near north santo domingo just bellow "parque mirador norte" and the rio isabela. my extreme minimum is 15 to 18C. so i think i am in zone 13A. maybe this is because of the river.
i believe zone 12 is maybe jarabacoa. zone 11 is constanza. zone 10 is upper constanza. zone 9 is valle nuevo.

rollinia is candongo/biriba, caimito is a sapote relative, pitaya is a cactus fruit.

i use mail boxes for seed and never had a problem..when i used the local one i almost never received them.

that's the plant to the left....about 2 feet so it's not so young next to a mammea that's over 3 feet tall.

it would be funny but i don't think so.

they sell it as garcinia spp and they also sell m.americana.
that's endemic here so they know it well.

oh yes that's a good idea. i guess i will have to ask about the origin of these seeds and maybe take a look at the fruit.

33
tropicdude i also have a jungle at home as you may know lol. i got a truck now which they still have not given me the papers so i can start to move plants to the farm. now it's summer and the grass has grown to my knees so that's going to be a challenge.

growitfromseed i have soursop, rollinia, caimito and a few others to give away.

felipe tropical at an altitude of about 100 feet. lots of sun.
good for mango,cashews and peppers.
muy bien :P

is anything still alive felipe?

hello vecinos.

welcome to the forum.

yes auyama is the local squash variety.

well if the mango is poly you better grow at least 2 from the same seed to be sure. i am growing gota de oro, puntica and frabricó from seeds.

to the vecino number 2

too bad pickering is mono.
i now have a farm in north santo domingo with 21 tareas...with the purpose of growing fruit trees and native species so you can't say you don't have space. i'm looking for security, to move a family there if you someone.

well here we grow an ornamental arrayán-Eugenia monticola-known as birdcherry in usa. you can also make free brooms with it,use it for bonsai, feed the birds. the taste is piney, inferior and smaller than any pitanga.

it looks just like yours but i can't tell you for sure as there several stopper eugenias.
