I would use 1 central rebar stake and trim all branches to 6" from trunk before evacuation. Trim the rebar to be not higher than the tree. The rebar would flex and absorb some energy.

If there is a high percentage of it hitting your area, you should trim the trees drastically to save them. Either have standing short trees or laying on the ground big trees. You pick.

Move all the trimmings and trash into garage so they wont beat your house up nor your neighbors.

Dig them up and give to your neighbors. They might plant next to your wall so you get half the tree.

If the tree is on a slope, there is no danger of the root crown getting flooded. So dig down to plant.

I put a 4' tall in ground last April. It sets 10 wax apples 2 months later. I fertilized with 6-4-6.

I put another 4' one in my friend's yard last June. 2 months later it set a few fruits. I don't know if my friend fertilized.

In CA we have Navel. We buy Texan when we want sweet ones. They have seeds.

I put mine between damped paper towel, inside a zip lock bag. I zipped the bag 3/4 of the way. 4 seed seems to sprout after 2-3 weeks.

Do you fully zipped the bag?

Fuerte is Spanish for 'strong'. You'll have endless pruning to keep it small.
