My young tree dropped all.

I have 2 variety here in yard. The early one with red flesh had poor fruit set. The later one with white flesh had 100% fruit set. I did not hand pollinate.

That is worth repeating....

Why repeat an ignorant post?

Those slides encourage farmers to dump extra fertilizers to increase production, at a low quality point that they can get away with. Those methods have NOTHING to do with home gardening. For home gardening we want the best quality, not what the slides advocate.

If you understand what the slide "The Nitrogen Relationship" means, you can discard the rest of the slides.

129
The most important slide is the one with "The Nitrogen Relationship" graph.

Chirimoya is cherimoya, same tree from different languages. That tree is an atemoya.
Grab that tree so you can stop thinking about it.

What will you do with the round tubing?  Pour concrete or use as is?  You might try using 3 or 4 rebars and bend them at the ends and let that hang out and concrete the lowere end.  I thought out making some but figured its a lot of effort and they will require more than myself to install.

I put one end in a pot then encase that end in concrete. I box the tubing with wood for the DF to cling onto. I add the top, with wood. I dig a hole then put the whole thing in, including the pot.

Where can you buy the perforated galvanized square steel tubing used for street signs?

Search for "perforated square tubing". Industrial store should have it.

I'm about to make another support tree with cheaper circular fence post. Only need a few holes drilled.

That cement block is not designed for free standing post.

We got tired of rotted posts so now we encase perforated galvanized square steel tubing with concrete. The tubing is the same one being used for street signs. We bolt 1x wood to 2 sides. Then screw 1x to the bolted 1x.

I recommend tubular fence post. It's cheaper than the square tubing we used.

In theory, yes. Maybe you should water it until it has deep roots to take up enough water to handle the wind.

137
I twisted the brush. Most of the misshaped fruits are from earlier dates when I had limited pollen. Most of the fruits in early June are nicely shaped.

I'm from Southern part of The People Republic of California. Sometimes I got stopped heading back to Orange County from San Diego. One time I braked late and got held back for full inspection. One time I got stopped from heading back to Sacramental from Reno.  Sometimes I got stopped heading back to OC from Las Vegas. One time I got held for a minute when I had 2 potted plants, bought from Home Depot in Las Vegas. The agent let me kept those 2 pots.

Sometimes I saw dogs walking around the check points. Sometimes agents had me rolled down the windows for air sampling. Those got my heart pumping!

Those checkpoints have random inspections. When the lights are green, drive at common speed. When the lights are yellow, drive slow. Agents either wave you through or stop you. When the lights are red, agents will be talking to you. They could be air sampling or have dogs sniffing your car.

There is a local road you can use to bypass check point near Barstow. I'm not sure about Northern nor Southern routes.

Next time you should have participants rinse their mouths with tea. It cleans their palate better than water.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: How to pollinate Seedless Guava?
« on: June 30, 2017, 08:24:30 PM »
Either seedless guava pollen are low potency or seedless guava flowers require pollen from another tree. I'm not sure which one, or both.

My mom's friend had 1 fruit on her tree. Her other friend had 5 fruits.

I don't want to look at fruitless tree, so I get 2 fruit going. I'll not intervene on the rest of the flowers.

Thanks for the video.

I had no success with pollinating seedless guava flowers with their own pollen.

I picked newly opened, guava with many seeds, flower and rubbed it on the seedless flower. I did this on 2 flowers and got 2 fruits.

Those walls are big and tall. They offer wind protection on 4 sides.

Your barrels are too short.

146
Those PDF look like his presentation handouts. It would be great if you would post any video of the actual presentation on Youtube.

147
I read those articles yet not sure if they removed the tap root. Did you remove the tap root? How are your trees doing?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Why my Longan fruits all dropped?
« on: June 25, 2017, 05:10:44 PM »
I removed 2 Logan tree since they did not bear many fruit. I did not water them because they always had big green leaves.  >:(

149
The female flowers on my atemoya open around 3 pm. The male flowers open around 5 pm.

When I have old pollen I pollinate around 3. Else I pollinate around 5-8 pm.

My weaker tree only flower recently. It got 3 fruits so far. Only has a few flowers left.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Rain = Washed Out Mango Flavor?

There is a linear drop of Brix vs rain in nectarines. Maybe mango has the same problem as nectarine.
