Thanks. My Kathy seems like it does not want to grow at all but my Coconut Cream is doing great and the Pina Colada. I pugged my Peach Cobbler but deers kept eating it and eventually it died of stress. Question should I get rid of my Kathy that is ground planted and put my LZ in it’s place. My LZ is in a 35 Gal container.

My PC looks like it died after pugging it. Seems like the stress took the life away from it. I will keep it until next year in hopes that it is just dormant. It was a very vigorous grower prior to pugging it, It gave about 8-12 new branches from the node. Deers kept chewing away at though>>>

Facebook @Mangotreegrowersofamerica so others can be informed of the new mango varieties out. Anyone reporting on the Kathy Mango this year I feel like it has dissapeared fro  the radar...

Sweetheart? How tall does that one get and how does it compare to the Namwah or But Java.

Can the Goldfingers be eaten cooked? I have cooked my Blue Java aka Ice Cream Bananas and they taste fantastic. I also took a few from the current bunch that is hanging and counter ripened them and they took a little over a week to ripen but once they did they also were sweet and delicious. Such a great reward from the plant. The only thing I consider a thumbs down is that it took me almost 2 years to get that bunch.

Thanks, that Fe'i sounds like a champ! What about any that can be both a plantain or eaten as a sweet banana? I hear Namwah is the best for that category.

***Banana Plants*** What are your Top 1, 2 and 3 backyard banana plant varieties?

I have tried Dwarf Cavendish and Blue Java varieties and continue to grow these. Also have some Dwarf Plantains but curious to see what is the community think is the top 3 choices. Thanks in advance!

So anyone here reporting on the Pina Colada for this year? I have one and it is a slow grower. It is finally pushing out it's second flush since planting it this year. My CC is doing fantastic and is pushing out it's 3rd round of foliage. Kind of interesting to see if I may have to get rid of my CC if a Pina Colada taste similar. Anyone reporting a difference in taste?

Greetings, I have many trees in ground that are young and need tree trunk protection from the weed whacker. Anyone of you have cost effective methods that are practical and functional? Thanks in advance!

Don't give up buddy. Keep trying. May be it is the tools you are using and not necessarily you. Some have better luck with Buddy Tape vs Parafilm, others use a knife such as a craft knife others use a straight edge razor. Be patient and take your time. Now it is a good time to learn since its summer.

I think it's a #4. I need to see the tag. I got it from a local nursery. I did not graft it myself. Supposedly its the dwarf nam doc mai version of the larger tree. I am trying to condense trees to make more space.

Well lets see here.. lets simplify this a bit...

Nam DOc Mai
Maha
Peach Cobbler
Valencia Pride
Pina Colada
CoCo Cream
Kathy
Lemon Zest
Angie

How would you pair these? Thanks....

So I have an Angie. May be a Angie/Mah/NDM since all 3 are rather compact growers? Thoughts. I do have a pina colada and coco cream that I can put together as well. Just trying to make room.

Yikes! I had high hopes for the NMD. I get that it is not a complex mango. Would you say the NDM is as basic as an Ataulfo?

Thanks for the photo, Last night someone posted a video of the mango being picked from a 15 gal. pot. It had no scab to note, it had a slight yellow blush toward the top, and it was described as ripening sort of uneven. Kind of hard on one side and soft on the other. He stated that the mango was excellent. He stated that next year he hopes the tree will be more mature and produce a better mango. I think that this mango might be a real winner. I cant wait. He said it also had the most branching of all his mango trees and grew the fastest. This might be a great rootstock mango as well. Those Gary crosses don't play! The one I grabbed from my local nursery looked like it was on steroids, very tall with only one branch. I will cut it at around 4ft to let it branch from there since I do believe as others stated that this is going to have a Valencia Pride type of growth.
