Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: 12' greenhouse in san diego
« on: April 02, 2018, 08:56:35 PM »
My mango and my neighbor’s mango trees are fine in San Diego.  My zip code is 92123.  If you live in the mountain area like Julian then a green house is needed.  Overall, mango grow well in San Diego especially sweet tart.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Decomposed granite and how to amend?
« on: March 17, 2018, 03:14:28 AM »
The area where i live only have 1/2 to 1 foot of topsoil and the rest is decomposed granite.  I only know to add compost and wood chip.  Is there any other way to add nutrients to the soil without worrying that the soil will wash all of the fertilizer away?  Do i need to add calcium, iron, or any other minute minerals?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Please help me identify soil type
« on: March 16, 2018, 01:41:22 AM »
With recent rain, i started to dig out some dirt in my garden for a retaining wall.  The rain soften the soil but i cannot identify soil type.  It is not clay because it is very hard and sandy but it is not sand like the beach sand where everything turn into grains.

I thought the golden Buddha was the next big thing.  It was suppose to be release in limited quantity from Combodia.  It was found in the lost city of “are you kidding me” and “where are they coming up with these names.”   :P just kidding everyone.  Not to offend anyone.  Do these mango really taste like their name imply like cotton candy?  I need to plant more mango and try more mango to understand what every one is talking about.  California is on its way to growing mango so soon i will know what everyone is describing.

If i had one choice it would be chili!!!!!  Easy to grow, does well in all weather and u can move it indoor if u live some place that snow.

But if u want exotic then guava or Australian finger lime.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Campas vs. Campos cherimoya or was it campus?
« on: February 24, 2018, 01:53:48 AM »
I am a little intellectually challenge when it comes to campas and Campos Cherimoya.  All i know from here is Campos is from Spain.  Is there differences in flavor, phenotype, or growing conditions between the two?

« on: February 15, 2018, 03:05:08 PM »
Hi All,

I need help with my african pride.  This year it produce a lot of fruits but non of the fruits are sweet.  Last year i had really sweet brix.  Did i over water the tree or did i not fertilize the tree correctly?  There is absolutely no sweetness to my atemoya.  My tree produce beautiful looking fruits and size.  Please help.  How do i increase sugar in my fruit?  Do i need to add iron, episome salts, or cupper?

You're missing the perfect opportunity to name it "PPAP" (Google for the meme).

I thought about it.  Let’s hope the seed can develop into something great.
