Only have a Green Thumb... didn't say I was a miracle worker.. ...I leave that up to mother nature..

It seems like it's holding it's own. I doesn't show any signs of leaf damage, looks nice and healthy.

Give it a few months and hopefully spring will bring a new spurt of growth... Good Luck.

I saw the trailer, and was laughing at how they say the nurseries lay out their fruit for tasting like drug dealers lay out their products, and we are all addicts.. hehehe I guess we are all high on fruits..

I was just talking to my sister today telling her about the trees I have bought and that she should plant some. I really don't know what would grow there. She lives in Cypress. What do you grow there?

Cypress, North of Houston ... They get a few degrees colder than I do (fortbend county) and thus have to protect all subtropical/tropical plants from the danger of frost in winter. But if she's interested, she can grow many plants as we have ample warm summers (HOT!! is more like it).

Plants I grow in ground... Jujubes, stone fruit like plums/apricot/peaches/nectarines, pears, 5 different (closed eye) figs, mango, curry leaf...pecan and trying my hand at a walnut tree (Macadamia doesn't like frost, needs to be protected), Owari satsuma, loquats, Wilma Avocado, white Asian guava, Pomegranates, Arbequina olive, Patra or Colocasia esculenta (taro), neem tree, Reg. Banana, Sugarcane, Naval Orange, pineapple(store-bought).

Plants in pots but can be in ground.. { i have a major prob. with Deer getting to them, so i have them in pots  }
Pakistan mulberry, ever bearing mulberry,  Ice-cream Banana, Papaya, miho satsuma,Ujukitsu, kumquat, calamondin, sunburst tangerine, royal lee and minnie royal cherries, pink and white guavas, Fantastic Avocado, Mission Olive, Moringa (drumstick tree), Pithecellobium dulce (guamichile or sweet madras or manilla tamarind), Rabbiteye Blueberries, passion fruit vine.

In pots but left out in winter.. with protection if it's going to be too cold...curry leaf, lemon, limonia acidissima(Kotha), beal fruit (aegle marmelos), Mallika mango, Makok sapodilla, lychee, Bay leaf, Dragon fruit, green and purple tulsi (indian basil), lots of herbs like lemon grass, mints, rosemary, basil, etc.

In pots that over winter inside... 2 green sugarapples, unknown soursop, Miracle Fruit, Bo tree (Fiscus Religiosa), Longan, Star fruit. Many more  seedlings just starting out, like Noel's sugarapple, and custard apple, some Jackfruit, Jambolan, Mamey, date that are too early to say if i will be successful or not..

I have a lot of tropical flowers and palms. I hope that gives you a rough idea and inspires your sister to try some fruit... Jan/feb is a great time to buy plants as we have lots of plant sales coming up in Houston. PM me if you'd like and i'll send you a few links to some fruit tree lectures/sales in Houston that i'll be attending in a couple of weeks...

You've had flowers already so fruit is soon to follow.. My longan is just about a year and a half old, and still in a pot as i'm afraid to put it out because of the frosts we get here...

It was great to see all the different types..
I've grown 'Aspara'/manjarii. They look a little like the one in your hand in the first picture. The regular small purple asian egg plant is common at indian groceries, and are often stuffed and added to a tomato gravy..yum!

I didn't know they came in a variety so small.. the ones in the second pic... are they ripe when red/orange?

Amla's are a great source of Vit C...

They just cut the green fruit (sour) and dry the slices in the sun...but they can also dip/cook the slices in sugar syrup and then dry it... It's one of my favorite snack.. sweet and sour at the same time..
Once dry...they preserve for a long, long time...
