I'm going to guess at laterifolia and intermedia...hoping anyways!  Mangosteen is a sure bet on a single plant fruiting but...

laterifolia(achachairu)...big one that I hope is close to blooming, also have a grafted plant and several seedlings from PR.
madruno(madrono)...couple big ones planted together in one hole and several seedlings from PR.
livingstonei(imbe)...4 big plants.  All have bloomed...all male except one that had male and so far one female or hermaphrodite.
macrophylla(?)(cherichuela)...grafted from Bill Whitman's plant.  Very small with very little growth.
edulis/intermedia(lemon drop mangosteen)...several seedlings and one grafted plant from PR.
mangostana(mangosteen)...couple seedling plants and one grafted plant from Thailand that doesn't know whether to live or die so it just stays between both.
accuminata(bacuri??)...seems to be some confusion as to whether or not this plant is/was g. madruno.  Single seedling.
prainiana(cherapu)...one large and one small seedling.

I've gotten to try most of these and more in Thailand and especially PR over the years...except for the cherapu.  Here's a link to some pics of my garcinias if interested.

Welcome all.  It's good to have you.  Once all the giddyness of the new forum is behind us, I'm sure we will settle down to some more serisous conversations.  Good to have you with us Oscar.  Your expertise as well as your photos are most welcome.  Murahilin and PJ says they cooked up this forum idea while in an elevator when we were in PR this past summer.  Knowing these two like I do...I pray the forum was the ONLY thing they were cooking up!!   ???

My enthusiasm for this guy has gone down quite a bit with the last couple of shipments.  In-laws are growing the yellow one but it hasn't flowered yet.  She will look around for seeds.

Sure thing Noel.  Is that why the authorities in PR are still looking for you??!!!   ;D

That's a pretty cool tree.  I'd like to have the folks in Thailand find a few like that.  Beats the hell out of trying to climb up a tall tree or wait until one konks you on the head!  Does it stay dwarf or will it eventually just keep going up.  I notice the trunk on that one is pretty big.

I will email the in-laws and see if they have seen this and obtain some seeds.  J

Noel...try roasting some young ones.  Cut the top for a lid, shave off some flesh to mingle in with the liquid.  Wife, her family, and Warren loved this.  It was so-so for me.

Terrible view!  Don't know how you stand it.  Murahilin would never survive in a location that is not flat as a pancake.  The smallest of hills wears him out!!   ::)

None of my seed grown pulasans survived either.  However, the 3 nice seedlings from Juan I brought back are doing fine...as are the two durian.

1137
Why are you digging them up?

Thanks for sharing the pics.  Plants look great.  How long have you had your blueberry?  Any good?

Sheehan just doesn't appreciate a good, sweet fruit.  The taste must resemble a mouthful of alum before he enjoys it!!   ???  Noel's Big Red are delicious!  A very beautiful fruit too.

Yeah...welcome to the addiction!  Lot of work went into that.  With the lights going...looks like you have a Nativity scene going on in there!

This festival is really a lot of fun.  Believe it or not...our local conservatory hosted this festival a few years back and it was quite the hit.  Lots of interesting displays and demos.  They had numerous fruiting specimens in their rainforest exhibit as well as in containers throughout the entire location.  I'm sure Fairchild will put on an even more extravagant festival.  Well worth the money and time spent to go.

I see where Murahilin posted today on GW.  Tim...did you mention the new forum in your post?  Anyone else locked out or something odd?

Watching all the first timers is a hoot!  You so expect the worst but then find that it's not all that bad and starts to grow on you the more you eat.  I would eat overly ripened durian long before eating another soursop!

1144
So many factors involved!  None of the durian we had in Thailand or PR were overly powerful...except for when Warren kicked a baggie full of durian underneath the back seat in the SUV and forgot about it for a couple of days!  Still wasn't horrible...just strong.

First a big thanks to murahilin and PJ for their time and hard work creating this forum.  It's already shaping up to be the best out there.  Hopefully this will draw the same talent as the other forums and these folks will find a permanent home here.  Very refreshing.

Most of you know me from GW but if not...I live and grow in Ohio.  I fell in love with and married a lovely Thai girl I met here at work and after a few visits over there...also fell in love with tropical fruit.  Had to start growing this stuff man!  One thing led to another and I now have a GH hanging off the back of my home.  I have unfortunately took a shine to the more rare and harder to grow species and stubbornly continue to try.

I love traveling and make sure all vacations are a rare fruit destination during the peak fruiting season.  This doesn't always jive well with my better half but seeing that most vacations are back to Thailand, she doesn't complain much!  I also love Puerto Rico and the many many varieites of fruit found there.  You folks in Florida do quite well also and it's always a pleasure to visit by good friends down there.

I also grow the super hot chillies...ghost, fatalli, habs.  This year we got a little carried away and ordered the hottest seed varieties out there...among them the new crown prince of heat, the Trinidad Scorpion Butch T Strain.  Don't know what the hell I will do with some of these but it sure will be fun.

Oh yeah...everyone...don't forget to update your profile so we know where you live and what zone you are.  This helps out when specific questions are asked...saves a return question. :-[  Just wanted to use one of these things!!

Would have rather seen this vote as ranking 1-5.  Maybe also add a variety where the f'ing fruit don't split and drop!!!!!!
