I am sorry this is not Cowa mangosteen( Garcinia cowa)

This is Garcinia kydia, rare and subacidic  Garcinia fruit from North East India.

This is known as CHOP-CHOPA in Assamese
Some authors consider both the species as one.

Fresh seeds

Please read my post on discussion board"Please ID Garcinia sp from Assam"

This year I tried to collect seeds of Garcinia lanceaefolia-
called Rupohi thekera in Assamese, the state language of Assam,an Indian state.
Although the literature(https://www.academia.edu/3843726/Garcinia_in_Assam) says that each fruit has 6-8 seeds,
but my collector informed me he found fruits without seeds in 3-4 locations.
He says this Garcinia species can be propagated with root cuttings.
He has seen many saplings on the roots of the plant.
