In N E India, regular ambarella(Spondias dulcis/Spondias cytherea) is quite popular. One should use fresh seed(just skin and pulp removed),soaked in lukewarm water for 24 hours or so and planted in sandy soil.In my case it germinated within three weeks or so.The soil should not be dry, rather be little watery. Next time I shall post the photo of the tree.

Mix equal portions of red chili powder(Capsicum species) and salt.Spread this mixture over the ants and their nest ,and on the leaves, stems  and surounding the base of the plant. The ants will go away.

Hi Durian Lover(Sorry I do not know your name)
I work in Vijayawada but I plant everything in Agartala which has subtropical climate. This winter the temperature was down to 2 degree celsius over there.Even I am planning to plant some avocado plants in Siliguri.
If I continue working here and you are passing this place, definitely we shall meet each other.
Thanks

Thanks to Oscar and Carlos
I  plan to cultivate avocado in  sub tropical(Winter is cold) region of India. Please suggest me suitable and productive cultivars so that I can get avocados almost throughout the year.
Thank in advance.

Bael is a popular fruit in Northern & Eastern India. Some are quite big and tasty. The pulp is used in treating constipation. The entire plant is useful.

In India, avocado cultivation is almost non-existant .There is no cultivar,it is simply butterfruit. To start on experimental basis,I need some seeds to grow them into rootstocks. Then I should select scions of some definite cultivars like Hass or so.Is it so?
Please enlighten me with your valuable suggestions.

I wish, one day I have Baccaurea macrocarpa. I think this species has biggest fruits among all Baccaurea species.

Dear Luc
As you said, mexican garcinia is limoncillo. It is not Garcinia intermedia nor Rheedia edulis(Some people say both are same and same say they are different). One article(http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3040103/) says that Rheedia edulis  (synonym: Garcinia intermedia) is known as  “waiki-plum” in Belize, “arrayán” or “palo de frutilla” in Guatemala, “chaparrón” in El Salvador, “Caimito” in Honduras, “jorco” in Costa Rica, “sastra” in Panama, and “limoncillo” in Mexico. This species is also cultivated in Brazil and The Philippines where it is known as “limăo do matto” or “berba”, respectively.
There are other two limoncillo's-Cassipourea guianensis and Melicoccus bijugatus.
I request the forum to find out a proper scientific name for Mexican Garcinia (or Rheedia,if it belongs to this)
I wish to grow this.I will give you some seeds from India.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Baccaurea species

I have not seen Mootii(Baccaurea. courtallensis) but I can get them from Kerala in season. I have eaten many times Baccaurea ramiflora/Baccaurea safida in Tripura, which we call bhubi or latkon. I have seen two types-one is light yellow and another dark yellow(Exactly I do not remember).
Most of Baccaurea species are found in Thailand,Indonesia & Malaysia.I wish to collect Baccaurea macrocarpa,I think the fruit is biggest among Baccaurea species.I may be wrong.

The picture may not belong to  Aglaia tomentosa.
The description of true Aglaia tomentosa is as
Berry, almost globose or egg-shaped,yellow ,with reddish ,hairy scales, aril and one seed.
I am enclosing one photo of Aglaia tomentosa

819
Which Aglaia species it is ?

The picture may be known to some people but the exact species is not confirmed

820
I think so:
Fruits of both Mangifera caesia & Mangifera kemanga are similar in size and shape;the latter has lighter patches over its brown colour;it has rough skin while the former has smooth skin;the latter is more sweet but less acidic with strong flavour;the former is more acidic   but less sweet or completely sour with offensive smell.Seeds are similar in size and shape and they are non woody
The leaves might confirm.

822
Most probably it is Kemang (Mangifera kemanga).Photos of leaves might help in identification.
