Citrus General Discussion / Difference between Melogold and Oro Blanco?
« on: February 05, 2017, 02:08:37 PM »
How can one tell the difference between the two? I know Melogold are supposed to be bigger in size and thinner rind, but I've gotten fruit from a couple of friends locally with huge fruit from their Oro Blanco trees. Not sure if they're really Melogolds instead of Oro blanco. No nurseries in town ever sell any Melogold trees. Most haven't even heard of that variety.

Here's a pic of the fruit from her tree

This guy in California has a multi grafted citrus tree with 101 varieties on it! WOW!

If you look into his albums he also has a 53 in 1 persimmon tree and an 85 in 1 prunus tree with peaches, plums, cherries, almonds, etc. on it

Citrus General Discussion / Grafting question (inter stem)
« on: June 16, 2016, 04:36:28 PM »
What effects would having an inter stem do to a graft?

I've read a lot in the past about various root stocks and their effects on the quality of the tree and fruit: vigor of the tree, quality of the fruit, etc. But what would happen if there's an inter stem in between the graft, would that affect the top graft's vigor or fruit taste?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Thinking of pugging my Alphonso mango
« on: May 27, 2015, 10:06:38 AM »
It was growing upright when I got it years ago and had it staked in a pot, but once I planted it in ground and removed the stakes, all the new growth had been droopy/scraggly. I've been tip pruning but the new growth droops down too.

Would pugging it make it grow more upright in the future?

Video is in the link above. I wish it was a full hour long BBC documentary  :-\. I'd like to see more of his collection and how he acquired and grew it all.

So many different products I'm seeing on the web, but I don't know which to get.

I'm also reading that regular dish soap works the same as these products. If I go that route, how much soap should I be adding per gallon of water?

Looking for a nice size plant. Anyone know where I can get one?
