Tropical Fruit Discussion / What's in a name?
« on: June 14, 2015, 04:06:32 PM »
Had a good customer tell me yesterday that a certain Fl nursery, which I won't name, because I think everyone will figure it out pretty quickly, they are offering a mango called Rosizest! Really? Where does anyone come up with this nonsense. Now I trust my customer implicitly and he is also a forum  member. So my question is this, do you really need to screw over people that bad to sell a tree? If true, and I believe it is. I think it's pretty pathetic. Now if such a tree and fruit exist I would love to see it, along with the Easterbunny and Santa!

That seems really strange, we been eating them for a month and this year they have been great, right up there with my LZ's, I guess every yard is different. The ones we have sold, we get people back looking for more. Wish I had more to sell but my daughter has dibs on what's left.

My lemon zest this year is loaded. The fruit have been fantastic.

No problem thanks for the review. I thinK  the tree is worth propagating. The production alone is top tier. Taste wise it reminds me of a sweet Haden without the black spots. I never trust my taste buds. The customers seem to really like it. We however are way too picky! Lol. That's what we get for drowning in the very best of mangoes. Thanks again Harry. Much appreciated.

I see you are in the keys. I wonder if salt water intrusion could be a partial cause.
How close to the water are you?

All around use I agree with Rob. Felco. The Italian Casterlari are the rolls Royce of hand pruners but expensive. AM lea it'd sells a generic hand pruner for under $30 that fit fellow blades. They are pretty good two

Hi Rob. Certainly no offense taken on my part. Everyone has their own prefrences and that's what makes this forum work. I agree there are way better mangoes, I like the fact they are early and productive. At least you didn't curse me out! Hahahaha.

I have seen some of the negative reviews in the past. I have always liked it. I call them pocket mangoes and we have 2 nice producing trees. We sell everyone of the fruits and have a waiting list for it. We have been picking Manillita mangoes for a month and still have plenty on the tree. If you ever want some Harry let me know.

My Angie's are small on one side of the tree and large on the other side. Weird. But they all taste good no matter what size! In fact I am gonna slurp one up right now. Today's menu was 2 Mahas for breakfast lemon zest for lunch. And an Angie for a little snack now! I will throw in a Sunrise just because. Yup I am a mango pig man!
