The force required to have that happen is unbeleivable,if you have ever tried to cut down a Royal Palm you cant imagine how thick and tough they are, don't ever want to see another Andrew, one in a lifetime is one too many.

Its been wet this weekend, this is the far rear of my backyard. Notice the newly created chain of islands, I'm naming the "Mango Keys." All the planting mounds/Keys are about 24 inches high.

Break out the Bass rods!!

So far, have not seen any major mango drop but I will be spraying copper as soon as there is a break in the weather! This is by far the wettest "dry season" climate event that I can remember! The Jakfruit trees are growing so fast that you can almost hear it! My seedling tree has know set 25 fruits!
Well thats awesome on the jakfruit, our jakfruit trees are also doing great this year,we will have more fruit than we can use thats for sure, glad your mangoes are doing well.we have had 3 major drops so far this year with the weather, seems it depends on the variety what does well, we certainly won't have anywhere the crop we had last year, but then again, for us anyway last years crop was exceptional.

Next week I am sure we will hear from South Fla water management that we are in a drought! As they pump out the canals!!

They are always crying wolf about drought and water conservation just so everyone thinks they are über important. But the less water you use the more they jack up the rates to cover all their expenses and salaries. They are the opposite of a lean government agency
AGREE 1000 PERCENT! The most useless govt agency in Fla and brother that says a lot!!

We're swimming in the yard over here. The rains are bad for the mangoes, but the gusty winds are worse.  Hang in there.....I'm thinking of doing gondola ride tours at my place.

Harry
Looks like mother nature giving a little payback for such a nice winter, more upset I can't get any work done, well here we go to another rainy season early! Bass fishing under the Mango trees!! lol

I believe the nursery growers supply sells  it for $19.95 a roll, the place where people were buying the grafting knifes, you might want to check them out three bucks is three bucks!

I believe this is the seller you are refferig to. This guy wants $12 for shipping. Take a look at the image, I added the item to cart and look at price. If you are local and pick up for $19.95, that is a great deal for you. Unfortunately, not all folks are local and these days if you have to drive 20 miles to get the tape, it costs you $8 just in gas. food for thought.

Yes ,thats them, didnt think the shipping would be so much, oh well just a thought

I will see if I can set it up for that saturday afternoon,so we can sit around and tell some war stories,Lol, I just have to figure out a schedule, that way anyone going to the Mango festival in the morning will have time to get together in the afternoon, just would be nice to put some faces behind the members of this forum,I am kind of centerley located between Palm beach county and Dade so if enough people on the forum are interested we can definitely put something together. I figure it would be great for a good get together without the madness of the mango festival,I will keep everyone posted and see if it is a go!

Glad you guys enjoyed the video, John travels the country doing these videos,we were happy to host him and have gotten a phenomenal response from it, he has a fantastic following and it's cool to see what people do around the country,we all are definitely on the money when it comes to creating your own edible landscapes,it seems that this trend will continue for years to come and we will all be better for it! Again thank you all for your comments, this site is of great value to anyone who wants to grow their own food either as a hobby or pleasure, and the great part is we get to enjoy the "fruit of our labor" as the saying goes! We hope this summer to have an open house to invite all forum members to stop by and have a meet and greet! Maybe we will do it the week of the mango festival so some of the out of town members that are coming to the mango festival can come by and say hello! Again thanks to all,MIKE

We have never had it produce a big crop, have about a dozen and a half nice size mangoes on the east side of the tree only for some weird reason, the smaller fruit are also on top of the tree but as I said they are dropping like flies.Great tasting mango,I cant wait to compare it to the Young, that tree has a bunch on it right now for only being 3 years old,we will see if it lives up to the hype test.

Thanks for the mention, I think folks in south florida are lucky to have so many places to choose from and a group of people running these nurseries who are always willing to help. Unlike many other types of businesses, these nurseries all work well together in a world where knocking your competition is the norm. We are glad to be associated with a great group of proffesionals! Thanks again ,Mike Bender
