Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Harvest Moon mango ?
« on: June 16, 2013, 08:00:09 PM »
I have one in the ground. The leaves are fairly susceptible to anthracnose, but the small fruits didn't seem to have any issue. I was told that the fruit is completely blemish free, which is rare for a late season fruit.

I have a few nice sized 7 gal Harvest Moons that I've been selling for $40 a pop. Let me know if you decide to buy one.
Jeff, What other mango trees do you have for sale?

For most tropicals specially in Florida, Nitrogen is the key. For those who have a small orchard the best way is to apply nitrogen in the form of urea 46-0-0 at $18-$20 for 50 lbs is a great price to Nitrogen ratio. Buy low biuret spray grade Urea. Mix with water and apply it in  drench or with the irrigation system. The same with potassium nitrate 10-0-46 spray grade can be mixed with water and applied to the ground. Minos can be applied foliar or in the mix.  Most in Florida don't need phosphorus, depending of your solid. Don't rule out these very economical ways of applying fertilizer
Carlos, Where do you pick that up at? would love the 10-0-46

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Lychee grafting
« on: June 11, 2013, 05:06:27 PM »
I have 3 pieces of Fay zi Siu lychee scion wood coming from DR. Zee from the USDA in HI. I have no idea how to graft would be willing to give scions to someone who 1) knows how to graft 2) would like to have this tree 3) is close to my location in Coral Springs Fl. Please PM me if you want them....As always first come first served!

308
Just graft them onto any lychee tree you have if you can't find any seedling rootstock.

Grafting lychee is very difficult. Good luck.
I dont have any lychee trees, this was going to be my first go around! wondering if I should just get the scion wood and give it to someone who knows what they are doing with it! would hate to see it go to waste! So if any grafters who have rootstock want the scions please PM me I will have Dr. Zee send it to me at the end of June and meet up with the lucky person! but need to be local I'm in Coral Springs Fl.

309
Looking for lychee root stock, Dr. Zee from the USDA in HI. is going to send me 3 pieces of scion wood for the Fay Zi Siu lychee, would just go to waste if I can't find some root stock!

« on: May 10, 2013, 04:41:53 PM »
Rob, It's no use trying to explain yourself some people just like to argue for the sake of arguing. And when they see your getting a little under the collar they turn it up a bit more just to keep the argument going. You know your right Walter & Zill's knows your right and your never going to stop people from trying to rename trees, We are the only one with this "NEW" mango "Angie Blush" get it while it's hot...

They are green and pretty...lol

321
Being biased I would say amber and berry with evidence that J33 and EVIAC sweet are in the same league.I have tried maybe 15 Australian named types, numerous malaysian and thais as well as a few vietnamese varieties before.I have also tasted many un-named varieties.I can only compare to the American types if they are compared to standard common ones like black gold,NSI,bangkok lemon, honey gold etc.
Mike can't EVIAC or j-33 here in Florida or at least not yet EVIAC sweet is the one I would love to get my hands on!

322
I am growing a j-31 now, have room for one more, Also was wondering if Soursop was worth growing never had the fruit, is it any good? it sure looks cool

323
I'll take two please, and call you in the morning...lol

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Moving in ground trees?
« on: May 03, 2013, 05:11:06 PM »
I agree why stress the trees two or three times when you can just dig them up replant and water, a lot less stress on the tree and work on you! Good luck with the move!

325
Wow Awesome! Where in N.Y are you? I'm coming up that way soon and might have to stop by your house for some fruit.....lol
