Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Avocado Scion's Wanted
« on: April 01, 2014, 04:47:45 PM »
Hi, I am looking for Sharwil and Ibis avocado scions. I am also interested in unusual varieties, (dooryard/unnamed) that might do well in cooler areas like mine in Texas. My area would be like central Florida and north of it, so ones with some Mexican heritage would be best, we get some brief freezes now and then. My local nurseries sell California Haas here as an example.
Thank you.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Multiple avocado seedling Grafts
« on: March 31, 2014, 08:14:39 AM »
Hi, I have some seedlings that have two trees growing form one pit. I am thinking about grafting both seedling trees, has anyone had any experience with this or would you recommend sacrificing the slightly smaller one so the pit can send all the sap to one?

Hi, is any one ordering trees from epicenter in California, and if so would you consider shipping to someone out of state? They only sell to residents in California.
Thank you.

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Re: "Kahaluu" Avocado Tree

Hi. I already have several avocado trees with new fruit this year, but I want to try some of the gourmet varieties after reading some of the reviews. I also grow oranges, lemons, limes, tangerines and others. I live in a unique micro-environment which stays pretty protected except for the very worst freezes. My current avocado trees are Stuart, bacon, Brogdon and a Little Caddo.

Hi. I am new to this site and I am looking to either purchase gourmet avocado trees or try to graft scion wood. I live in Conroe Texas 8B according to the zone map, but go through a lot of effort to protect and maintain my tropical fruit trees. I figure if you are going to put out the effort you may as well get the best tasting avocados possible. From what I've read the Kahaluu is supposed to be one of the best so I would like to give it a try. Any info would be great.
Thanks
