Hi again

To those friends that asked for seeds of my selected "Big red fruits" Catley guava I'm pleased to inform that I have fresh seeds available again.
This selection has sweeter flesh and less seeds than the normal Catley Guava. Some friend sugested this one could be an hybrid but I'm not sure. Here are some photos of these fruits:

I also have now fresh seeds available from the "Yellow Pear shapped" fruits selection of Catley guava.  fruits are huge and my family finds these fruits sweeter than the normal round ones... here are some photos:

Hi Mike

the mystery fruit look a lot like my Eugenia calycina... but I saw photos of Eugenia cereja that are similar too... so probably that is one of those two

First time I couldn't post photos of these fruits... here they are now:

Thanks again to those who asked for these seeds.
Have a nice day!

Hi

I would like to buy some psidium striatulum seeds if still available. I have also sent a pm.

All the best
Sune Nielsen

Hi Sune.... I've not received any PM from you... please confirm... thanks

They all seem interesting -- which of them are sweet?

Hi Barath
all these Psidium species are sweet and good to eat straight from the tree... no need for extra sweetening, or cooking nothing... just eat and enjoy!

Miguel

which one tastes best out of these ??

Psidium australe
Psidium striatulum
Psidium firmum

i might have guineense, i had a seed mix-up with P  friedrichsthalianum
and i think i will have to wait for them to fruit to know what i have

if Psidium guineense is even better than those 3, , i will get it also just in case.

Hello
truth is I like them all... the striatulum looks and taste like small guavas... the Australe has a very good flavor on it's own, different from all others... firmum and guineense fruits have similar looks and flavors, both being very good to eat straight after falling on the ground...

My advice is to grow them all!

Hi Folks
Just returned home from summer holidays and found out that my Eugenia calycina "Nelita" is ripening the second crop of 2017... and there are more flowers opening for the 3rd crop of the year latter on... meaning that 2017 will be a triple crop year... YEAHHHH!...

I remember some weeks ago I run out of stock of these seeds and failed to serve some interested forum friends, but now I just don't remember who they were, so if someone's still looking for these seeds please PM again.
Thanks in advance and best regards
Miguel

Hey Miguel, just want to let you know that all seeds I got from you sprouted and doing fine here in So Cal.
I have a question, however. Have you ever noticed that this variety is also prone to random dieback like the Rio Grande?

Hi Thera... thanks for the good news!
The calycina mother tree never sufered any kind of diebacks... So that's good news too!
but again none of the several Rio Grande's I have growing here ever had any dieback at my place.

Hi folks

I have some very fresh seeds of "Sweet Uvaia" available now... I also have a few one year old seedlings (born from last year seeds).
This is the very rare "Sweet Uvaia" that you can find described here (the right top corner photo):
http://www.colecionandofrutas.org/eugeniapyriformis.htm

Seeds are 10 €uros each and seedlings are 20 €uros/each, but I can only sell seedlings inside Europe
Postage fees are 5 €uros.

I have many photos of my fruits but for some reason I can't upload pictures on this Forum now... if someone wants photos please ask and I can send latter by email... thanks

I'm sorry for my late reply to PM's but I am travelling since last saturday.
I thinks I've answered to all PM's now.
Thanks again to all that showed interet in my seeds

17
Excellent thanks!  Any germination technique suggestions?

No need to worry... my seeds are very very fresh... in fact I'm eating the fruits and spiting the seeds inside the plastic bags I use for postage... most of my seeds arrive to my clients already sprouting... just wait and you'll see... thanks again!

My 'Nelita' mother tree is over 3 meters high now at 8 years old or so...
my tree is planted inside GH and it doesn't look to be growing much more, I think...if it does I'll have to start pruning it's head off...

Did you get my payment Miguel?

Yes my friend... will try to post your seeds today... thanks

That's very interesting, Miguel! Would you say the flavor is very similar to the common Sabara?

I have a fruit collector friend leaving nearby that has one old Jaboticaba Sabará that fruits heavily every year... I do find the taste of my fruits very close to those of my friends tree (meaning fantastic taste) but frankly I prefer the fruits of my tree because they are bigger... and are mine!

Nice! How long did it take to fruit?
I got it as a seedling back in 2007...  I supose it should had more or less 2 years old when I received it... it gave me the first fruit in 2013... so I supose it started fruiting at 8 or 9 years old I guess... that seems a normal fruiting age for Jaboticaba Sabará, but is very quick when compared to Plinia truncifolia that usualy takes much longer to fruit

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Jaboticaba "Sabará-de-Cabinho"
« on: May 25, 2017, 10:11:02 AM »
Hello Folks

I have one jaboticaba on my colection thant I've always called "Sabará" based only on the aspect of the leaves that I found to be similar to other Sabarás I know from friends.
But since my tree started fruiting it revealed that the fruits on my tree all have one long stalk attached to the fruits (stalk translates to "cabinho" in Portuguese).
Recently some Brasilian experts that saw photos of my fruits said that there is indeed one special variety of Jaboticaba that naturally occurs in regions where growing areas of Jaboticaba Sabará (Plinia jaboticaba) and Jaboticaba-de-Cabinho (Plinia truncifolia) overlap, and that this special variety received the name "Sabará-de-Cabinho"... and somehow I ended up having one on my colection that is fruiting now... see the photos please.

postage fees are 5 €uros by registered air mail with tracking-number

Thanks in advance to all
Miguel

Happy birthday, indeed, Nelita!

Does this mean you're going to start chopping little sticks off Nelita and mailing them around the world for grafting?

Hi Joe
I definitly will start trying to graft this cultivar soon...I'm growing some plants for rootstocks now... If I succeed I will then offer grafted plants for sale... fingers crossed!
