Rollinia deliciosa and Annona squamosa I assume have regular germination requirements
Nothing special, very easy to germinate, just cover them with dirt. Rollinia deliciosa seeds has a shorter viability time compared to Annona squamosa, so make sure they are fresh.

For Theobroma bicolor and cacao, my friend gave me directions but I'd be interesting in hearing others.

very easy to germinate, but hard to take care of. Not very adaptable plants. The seeds must be fresh and moist. if they dried, they are dead.

Lemon drop mangosteen

Garcinia macrophylla

Sapodilla

Easy to germinate if they are fresh. Make sure you do not "over-water" your plants.

Luc,

You could try Floral foam and it should absorb water like a beast  8).However, You need to chop it into little pieces.

Or  maybe styrofoam beads\pellets if you can find it in Mexico.

It could be perlite ?.

Perlite is white and shaped like a rain drop... maybe  :-\

Or White Rain could be a brand name for something ,fungicide, soil, etc.

It has gotten down to 0F (-17C) outside so far.

Tropical house min was 65F (18C).  I moved all my citrus in there for the cold snap.
Citrus house min was 39F (4C) and totally unheated right now, but since it is attached to the tropical house, it is staying surprisingly warm.

It will be about -6F to -9F (-21C to -23C) tonight, so I am eager to see how the citrus house does.  I was afraid to let it go unheated while I still had plants out there, so this is the first time I am able to check how it does without the REALLY expensive electric heater. ;)

Tropical house has a blue flame 30,000 BTU gas furnace.  I have not even turned it all the way up yet.  It is set to 4 (out of 5) at night.
If we get sun during the day, it will hit 80 in the tropical house with the furnace off, but if there is no sun, then 73 with the furnace turned down to 2.

Carolyn

Good job  8)

I hope everything goes well for you.

Consider ackee instead if it will grow in your climate?

Agree ackee is a much better fruit in terms of taste.  Easy to remove the poisonous part once you know how.  Delicious raw.  It will not however do to well in NE Florida.
Rob,

How would you describe the flavor of ackee ?.

happy new year

I bought two black avocado fruit from the local Supermarket for $12. It didn't taste like the regular avocado aka hass  ::). The flavor was unique and had smokey/meaty flavor,.

I'm not sure which cultivar it was but, I'm sure it came from the USA because each fruit had a sticker/label stating that this fruit was grown in the USA.

Anyway, I have two nice Black avocado seedling, Hopefully they will do well in here.

Is it possible to increase the plants root system with certain organic fertilizers in order to help it take more nutrients and in turn grow a little bit faster ?

Phosphate fertilizers are usually used to encourage root growth of the newly planted tree. However, root development is not everything you still need to have the right soil ph (some minerals wont be available for the plant if the soil ph is high), beneficial organism in soil , etc.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: How to germinate mangosteen seeds ?
« on: December 17, 2016, 01:51:01 PM »
Mangosteen and rambutan are the only fruits that I had trouble with. I tried several times and from different countries (Thailand and Vietnam) but, without any success. Also, You can germinate Durian, Dagon fruit, Langsat, longan, lychee, passion fruit, mayongchid, jackfruit, etc without any problem.

Nothing wrong with trying. Good luck

Hello all, I recently acquired some seeds from some Mangosteens I purchased at the market and I'm wondering what's an effective way to germinate them ??

If the Mangosteen fruits came from Thailand. I'm 100% sure the seeds got irradiated and dead.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: 7HotDates.com -- The Finest Dates in the US
« on: December 03, 2016, 03:15:00 PM »
The traditional way of eating dates is to eat them with cottage cheese or yogurt (if you want to cut down the calories) and black coffee. dates and cottage cheese/yogurt should balance each other flavor and make it more appealing, in my opinion. When you are done from eating dates, drink your coffee and it will remove the sweetness from your mouth. You can also remove the cottage cheese from the menu  :P and eat your dates with  black coffee.
