I read many websites about it but can't find any site that confirms litsea is dioecious. Can anybody confirm it?

I've never heard this...I hope not...my friend has one tree, doing very well here in Central FL...its about 3yr old, and 10ft tall.  Would be very cool to see this fruiting here!

Believe it or not, my friend also got a guanabana to fruit in the ground, without protecting it ( he bought the tree at about 3ft tall, and planted it...we had no serious freezes for about 2 yrs, and it made one fruit last year)....but now that we've had a freeze, I think his luck has ran out....the tree will take a year to recover I'm sure.

There are many webforums who discuss it being dioecious or not so that made me wonder. But i can't find any serious website or e-book mentioning it.

It can fruit after 5 years so i hope your friend get's fruit and likes them. I'm excited about this tree because i like fatty fruit and want to have more of them. I will grow it in containers untill i know how much i like it.
I didn't know the engkalak kan grow in your climate Adam, i thought it needed ultra tropics to grow. Would be fun to have it in the USA.

Guanabana can also fruit in a pot, mine bloomed but never set fruit. Then it lost it's leaves (which is normal in winter) but i think i overwatered it then and it died.

I have one thats 30ft tall flowered for 3-4 years now..no fruit set :(
think they need some cross pollination...don't think it's a male/female thing
We have a few more to plant, nearby
My question is: How far is too far for a neighbor enkala tree for cross pollination?...is 1/4 mile too far?

I had always been told you needed both sexes. I also seem to recall grafted male and female plants being sold in NQ about ten years back. A friend had some here and the male died, while the female looked like a telephone pole but never fruited... I haven't slept for a while though and my brain could have gone to mush...

Both of these (very good) websites don't mention about litsea garciae being dioecious so i still didn't read any official website where they state that it is a dioecious tree.

I read several times now that there are 2 variety's: a big fruit called Bulan and a smaller one called Bintang. The bintang is the best variety so that's what i want to grow.

There also should be a white variety but i can't find much info about it.

I'm glad someone uses the search feature on this forum. You're one of the few Adam.  ;) Yes from my experience you need more than one tree for fruiting.

Well i read many websites about engkalak and all tree's gave fruit although in some cases one fruits first and the other one after some years.

So i still don't understand it 100%, i thought dioecious tree's won't fruit for the male and the female tree.

But even the Indo's in Sarawak don't know the exact answer on their websites. But they have many engkalaktree's around so maybe those pollinate tree's as well.

Strange thing is still that even the official government websites written by loads of official certified fruitexperts don't mention it being dioecious.

But if BMC has seen male and female tree's for sale then that must be the answer i guess, then they are dioecious. I will grow 2 anyway like i do with all my tree's.

I doubt there are male and female trees. Probably what is happening is similar to avocado, to which they are related, where you have A type and B type flowers. It's possible also that the trees are self sterile even though the flowers are perfect. Here is a closeup shot of the flowers:
