Available now some seeds of  Marang - Artocarpus Odoratissimus from the island of Negros Oriental . Philippines.
This is a really a TOP marang variety, with very big fruits  (more than 2 Kg each ) and a thick soft flesh.
The taste is really delicious, like an ice cream.
Seeds are fresh, fruit opened just  today.

They are able to live in subtropical or are they more like rambutan and mangosteen?

Marang is a tropical fruit like Durian, Mangosteens and Rambutans. I don't think they can handle the winter temperatures of the subtropical Mediterranean.

Yes exactly.  :)
The tree is not cold tolerant (as is the breadfruit).
It can grow between latitude 15° north and south, and in coastal regions where temperatures never stay under 7 °C.

19 latitude and 4c for that same or similar philipine/cebu marang in Australia.

I agree. I purchased 15 seeds from Lorenzo. They arrived September 1st and 14 of them have already germinated and looking very healthy.
