Ive never seen a lemon or lime like that before. Could it be a type of Australian finger lime?

You will probably get a better response in the citrus sub forum.http://tropicalfruitforum.com/index.php?board=12.0

As far as I know the most popular elongated lemon in India, especially Bengal area is gandharaj (king of scent) lebu.

Thanks, Simon, but the citrus forum was not helpful. Thanks, Radoslav, I think you are right, I am told this is from the north east, and it has a nice fruity smell, not like citrus!!!

I have never seen real scientific taxonomy of Gandharaj. I read articles where it was  classified as a citrus limon, as a citrus medica or even as a Citrus limonia.
Judging by the foliage it is close to citrus medica, I think, but who knows.

According to the recent molecular DNA analysis  Indian limes have a very different origin than Citrus aurantifolia.
