Purple maroon guava
« on: December 28, 2016, 12:59:29 AM »
Had this recently, and the taste was absolutely fantastic. No grittiness and very sweet and berry like taste. Unlike those I have tasted previously. What is more interesting is that the core has turned almost dark purple bruise like Color, it's not over ripe but just nice. The core has become a purple jello and it's a pleasure to eat it. I know that guava has a high level of pectin and that have resulted in this. But it's still amazingly to see that.

I wonder if the others growing this guva

Cheers
Jet

This cant be the same as the Asian purple guava I had previously that is now mulch. It was whiter inside and the foliage had a red tinge. The fruit on that was poor.

Isn't it a red/purple malayan guava? What's the color of the skin of the ripe fruit? Have you got some seeds for sale?  :)

Thats the joy of seed grown fruits I guess. Sometimes you get really lucky. 🖒I'm hoping one of my brazilian orange comes to type.

Mmm... I'd like to try that! Too bad I'm not in Singapore... but I am considering living there someday, so hopefully those will still be around for me to taste when I get there!
