All grafts took and the tree is growing like a weed.  Size of the leaves are deceiving set against the big bottomless pot.  Some of those leaves are as big as my hand.  Even the veneer side grafts took really well which is surprising considering the limited cambium contact they had.  They're the tall ones in the back @ 1:00.

Budwood - Campas, Behl, Sabor, Pierce.

Great job Sumesh!

Glad to hear. I prepped wood the best I could and timing of shipping was same day of harvest. Rest credit goes to grafter and nature/timing.

Behl,

That's going to be one hell of a tree for someone. Do you have some pictures?

Thanks.

Vincent.

May be in a month or so, its pushing growth and once it has more branches and foliage, it will be worth looking at. Currently its shed all leaves.

A happy update - 7 of the 9 varieties I ordered are now pushing through the parafilm. Perhaps the two weeks in the fridge was not fatal but merely slowed them down a bit. Happy customer here, thanks again Behl!

I need to update my photo.  The Pierce has leaves bigger than my hands and it was the last to push and the smallest scion.  Have heard Pierce is especially vigorous.  True?

All grafts are growing like weeds.

yes, Pierce is very vigorous. The slowest ones are el bumpo, santa rosa and selma and they should not be mixed with others or you will end up with these varieties overshadowed by others.

You must have good soil/fertilized property and good conditions for them to look so healthy. Looking great.

Behl cherimoya loves light and crumbly soil with a high content of sand?
What acidity of the soil (PH) should be optimal?

most fruits do well with PH under 7, not sure about cherimoya though.

Wow, those growth looks amazing. Mine just started to have some leaves.
What kind of weather have you have since you grafted them?
how much water and how often have you fertilize?

Vincent.

Raised bed - large bottomless RootBuilder pots.  (Rain) watered about once a week.  Temps 60F to 95F.  Pot is mulched.  Rootstock soaked in VAM at planting, Osmocote Indoor/Outdoor pills.  Soil is well drained about a 50/50 mix of organics/inorganics....whatever is stockpiled outside and in bags.

Those are very good advice, and your fruit trees are thriving very well. I'm sure I can implement some of those in taking care of my fruit tree.

Thanks,
Vincent.

Scions arrived in great condition.  Grafting went well and they are pushing out leaves and flower buds.    Should I nip off the flower buds now or will they just fall off on their own?

if flowers set fruit, take them off. usually they fall off on their own and no need to remove.

My weekly update.  One Behl graft failed but the tree is healthy and growing well. Don't think it's quite ready to top/train yet.  Am picking off flowers.

I have quite a few seedlings going too.

When would they be ready to fruit? After 1 or 2 growing seasons post grafting?

You can fruit this season but not recommended. 2nd year yes.

Mostly depends on your skills as a gardener.  I usually let my newly grafted avocado trees hold fruit the 2nd year but that's because they're on a well established, robust root system and the grafts/trunks have lignified by the second year.  For example, I grafted four varieties and let 7 Sir Prize, 2 Holidays mature.  The Ardith and Pinkerton fruit dropped.

IOW, your call.  You have to learn how to balance the fruit load with the canopy and root mass no matter what fruit you're growing.

All grafts, no rootstock stuff.  Really growing well.   About 3' or so.  Temps are hitting 99 - 100F every day now.

Two side veneer grafts, 1 Behl 1 Sabor, the rest are cleft.
