Mike,

thanks again for offering these fruits for sale, they are damn near impossible to find.

I'll be really curious to hear some reviews from the members who purchased fruits.

I'm eager to receive my box, and have plans to order more ASAP (for our fruit club to taste, and to share with friends who like rare fruit)

how much longer do you think you'll be able to fill orders? (when is this crop going to be gone?)

I wonder if some of the fancy produce markets (such as Baldor's in NY, www.baldorfood.com/poducts, or Robert is Here in FL) would buy your fruit in bulk?

maybe try to contact them? maybe a waste of time?  I think they used to buy miracle fruits from my friend for top dollar.

I am awaiting my first ice cream bean to sample--not expecting too much--hoping to be pleasantly surprised.  Will post response here after trying it.

How to eat. The green bean is sweeter than brown ones. Just crack the pod open .Take out the white seed and try to eat the white off the black seed.

I've had this in Guyana and its called "padoo" there. Tastes like very mild cotton candy with a little hint of vanilla. :D. I'd grow it.
The Earth laughs in flowers. And bear gifts through fruits.
No where to plant it...but atleast I got it. ;)

I received my box yesterday.  My older daughter loved it, my mom and I both liked it, my wife did not care for the texture but liked the flavor, my younger daughter (as usual) would not try it. My older daughter would have been happy to plow through the entire box and was quite disappointed when I set the remaining fruit aside for tonight.

Thanks again Mike!

Mike,

got the fruit today....it had been sitting in the mailbox for a few hours, so it was a little hot, but not cooked.

I think these ones were just a tad closer to being over ripe...they were more cottony that the ones I tasted at your house...but still had a very pleasant floral flavor.

The ones we took from your house must have been at the perfect stage..not too green, not too ripe...they were just a little easier to eat, without having to gnaw the pulp off the seed.

to be honest I really need some more fiber in my diet, and this is not a bad way to get it.

thanks very much for providing the fruits...I will be needing another box or two soon (for the fruit club)  Hopefully your tree has more fruits!

That is a good price even for just the seeds alone. I had read that the seeds are roasted and salted for consumption. Can anyone verify or have experience doing this?

No the inga seeds are NOT edible. There are a very few species of inga that have edible seeds, like jinucil (sp?). But the variety Mike is offering is not one withe edible seeds.

I just finished my last Ice Cream Bean pod, and it was a fun experience.  I gave some to a Colombian co-worker and she said her mom cried when she tasted it, as she hadn't had "guamas" in nearly 50 years!

As for the taste, the flavor is good.  Mild yet sweet and agreeable flavor.  I enjoy eating them, but they are a process to consume (kind of like sunflower seeds).  It takes a good bit of work to get the flesh off the seed and at times the rubbery part that is left was spit out...Would be refreshing while walking the orchard on a warm afternoon, but not too easy to process/consume en masse.

The pod itself is fuzzy as mentioned above.  Going to plant the seeds out see if I can find a few spots where I can stick 'em around my neighborhood.

Thanks for the box (yum, all gone and I only shared one) and tour Mike. You have a nice collection of trees, it was hard to choose. the ice cream tree was amazing to me not to mention I have never seen a huge lychee tree before.

Inga seeds will all sprout right inside the pod if you let the pods get very ripe. For this reason the pods are picked while still greenish, otherwise very hard to eat with all the roots inside.
