Gouralata great pix pix once again. You would be a champ to eat those affinis snake fruit with a straight face.Does tampoi hutan taste as good as the white fleshed type? There are wild Hornstedtias and Xanthophyllums around here but would not have nice fruit like those. The Artocarpus doesn't seem to be tarap/marang.

I agree with Mike, that doesn't look like marang (terap). Seems to be wrong shape. All marang i've seen are round shaped.

I think you are correct with Baccaurea macrocarpa ID.  Your artocarpus ID may be correct.  It is hard to tell from the photo.  The marang in Sabah can come in that shape... but from the photo I can't catch the smell.  Actually, I can't even see the texture of the skin from the photo. I am not sure if my photos open up big when others look at them (they do from my computer when I am on this forum).  When I post a photo, I just click those green words "Add image to post" at the top of the text box.

Please note that after clicking 'add image to post' an options box pops up. There is a resize option, and if you click thumbnail your photo will come out tiny. You should click do not resize so that your photo appears in original size, or at least a very large size when clicking on the photo.

I had Salacca affinis today.  What a great fruit.  So beautiful and juicy and delicious.  Almost too sour, but no astringency and a bit sweet.  I ate more of these than I can normally eat of a Salacca edulis (in Sabah) due to the astringency of the latter.  I definitely want a Salacca affinis in my garden!  My wife thought it tasted like a low quality Salacca edulis, but it was totally different from any S. edulis I have ever tried.
