This grows as a weed here and I can say it's frost hardy to at least -5C. I tried the fruit once and never again! It was terrible. Some fruit is simply rare but not useful (like maqui berry best left to the birds)

I bought some seeds at Tradewindfruits of Cyphomandra abutiloides: https://www.tradewindsfruit.com/cyphomandra-abutiloides-dwarf-tamarillo-seeds

I saw the seeds at tradewind fruits and it sounds interesting. But did anyone grow it or cook with it?
How do they taste like? And the description reads as if  they are a pain to cook: https://laroussecocina.mx/palabra/cahuayote/

Recipes / cook with taro?
« on: March 05, 2022, 07:20:04 PM »
We planted a lot of different taro and we don't know when to harvest and how to cook them.
I guess we cut up the crown and replant them - actually do they ever set seeds?

I don't have any of them but blue potatoes can be super weedy, but that might be an advantage. I have purple kongo and they are spreading everywhere.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / myrianthus arboreus cold hardiness
« on: March 05, 2022, 06:59:21 PM »
Hi there, I haven't been on the form for years!
We have a garden just North of Newcastle and the climate is classified as warm temperate but people are growing mangoes there.
I am interested in myrianthus arboreus because the leaves apparently can be used for soup. (and birds are only after the fruit)
How cold hardy is that tree?
Its available at daleys. atm.

Tropical Vegetables and Other Edibles / Re: covid 19 and herbs ect

I won't do a thing, but certainly not get the vax, so many people get severe side effects or die. Please do get informed and read both sides. Other than that I didn't know that the fish plant helps with viruses. It wants plenty of water and shade and is nearly a weed.
