Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Fruit Trees with high ornamental value

Breadfruit/Bread Nut trees.

I got seeds from Sadhu and they fruited in 4 years (but I’m in a hot and humid tropical zone). They’re very tough trees. One was chewed down by pests, another burnt out by a fire and they both still came back. It has a slight aftertaste of rum, by the way. Very unexpected.

I feel compelled to jump on this thread, especially given my recent experiences on the forum. I think what happened was that this seller probably adjusted their price on Etsy (although the description still reads one seed and they may want to correct that). So some good has, arguably, come from this thread.

I've spent quite a bit of time on this forum recently and I have to say that the majority of people here seem to have an innate generosity that holds the forum together and I think that was the whole point of even starting the site. I have had excellent transactions with a few people here and have learnt a ton for free from many others who willingly and generously contribute their time and expertise. Perhaps because Nature is often bountiful, it permeates those who genuinely work with it. So thank you to everyone who contributes to keep this forum going. I would especially like to thank those who work hard to keep us on the strait and narrow. :)

Thanks to Lance, I received seeds of some of the plants I've been wanting to grow for a very long time, and then some! The seeds arrived all the way to me in Africa in excellent shape, with some of them already sprouting. Lance never disappoints and I have to "call him out" on his immense patience and kindness. Thank you so much!

I received far more passion fruit cuttings than I paid for and they arrived still fresh and green after a very long trip. Thank you so much Kevin, both for your skill and your generosity.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Best commercial papayas out there?
« on: August 24, 2022, 04:43:42 AM »
Thank you for bringing this up, Soren. We have year round papaya here but all my life I've always eaten them as a last resort and under duress. I'll definitely look out for these suggested varieties. Thanks again.

This happened to me last year too. I even gave the banana plant pride of place in my yard, only to find that it was a Nam Wah. Lesson learnt, moving on. But I still like Wellspring's plant variety and the small size is convenient for shipping.

First year fruiting? How many on a tree?
Flowering since few years. But, male flowers only.
This is the first time I am seeing a female flower and it held.

Mine has been flowering like that for 2 years! I was starting to worry but now I feel better. Thanks for sharing and congratulations!

I bought some very good rhizomes from a seller on Etsy in 2019. I can see she's still selling them but the price is nearly double.

Hi, I'm looking for as many cuttings or small seedlings as I can buy. My place stays really hot all year round. Do you have anything you could recommend?
