Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Re: Red Temoylata seeds for swap
« on: December 20, 2023, 08:15:29 AM »
So the fruit is a sugar apple x (cherimoya x sugar apple)?
No, it is Annona reticulata x (Annona squamosa × Annona cherimola)
Annona reticulata is Custard apple, not sugar apple

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Red Temoylata seeds for swap
« on: December 19, 2023, 03:33:20 PM »
Temoylata is hybrid of Annona reticulata x Atemoya.
I will trade seeds for interesting wonders.
Mind that since it is a hybrid of hybrid most likely the seeds will differ from the mother tree.
However, the tree is very productive, holds many fruits, cold hardy, fruits late and self pollinated.
Extremely sweet and a little bit grainy - delicious fruit.

February I will offer scions

I am selling dry seeds from my Yellow Jamaican Cherry tree.
The tree and fruits looks the same as the much more common red variety, and the taste is similar IMHO.
Very tasty fruit. The yellow variety is quite rare.

The price is 3 US$ for 1 dry fruit.
3 US$ for regular international mail or 6 US$ for registered international mail.
Paypal only.

The fruits are dried on a paper.
I send only the seeds without the skin.
There are lots of seeds in any single fruit (probably hundreds).

A single seed is extremely tiny, the smallest of any fruit tree seed I saw, thus the challenging handling of them must be done very carefully.
Try to separate them and place them on top of refined moist potting soil.
Do not cover them with soil.
Always keep them moist by delicate watering or even better spraying.
Once they are have grown enough and can be handled, separate them.
The young trees should be kept warm throughout their first year and adult trees away from frost.
This tree grows super fast and can yield in his second year.

PM for questions and orders

I have had Aannonas and Garcinias sprouting after a year!
Not ideal though...

Have you checked your soil Ph?
My own findings is that Garcinias are usually sensitive, and need Ph lower than 7 but not too acidic.
Keep them away of too much direct sun and fertilize regularly.

Best of luck

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Extending fruit season in lime trees?

I heard this lime grower stating he has a "secret" manipulation to extend fruiting of lime trees so it becomes everbearing.

Any ideas what it might be?

Mike thanks for the advice.
It seems that lemondrop mangosteen looks better with sulfur added.
Garcinia Brasiliensis is still very yellow

I concur that they could be sun stressed. I don’t know if you could experiment with some shade.
Peter

Garcinia brasiliensis and Garcinia humilis are in part shade and they still suffer.
Really strange, I think I tried any combination

The PH is not terrible. I give my Luc's garcinia a handful of sulphur pellets
every month. Are the trees in full sun? Are they in the ground or in  pots?

Some are in full sun, some partial.
Some in pots, some in the ground.
Are there any special PH needs for Garcinias?

Thanks!

Greetings,
Has anyone tried grafting the yellow Jamaica Cherry on the red variety or vice versa?
