Citrus Buy, Sell, & Trade / Carubarro Italian Lemon cuttings
« on: September 24, 2022, 01:02:34 PM »
https://vivainannini.com/en/carrubaro-lemon/

Some info on it.

I don’t know of anywhere you can purchase these in the states. “It originates from southern Italy, Sicily, derived from a mutation of a classic “Femminello Lemon”.”

Asking $15/good scion with 6+ great buds plus shipping. 3 sticks available.

Will trade for other interesting varieties as well.

Citrus General Discussion / Gummosis problem
« on: August 16, 2022, 11:21:25 PM »
I’ve stumbled upon a few more issues regarding my trees. It seems that several have this gummosis issue, most start at the base of the tree and kill them from the base up. I’ve recently had it on some in the upper parts too. Is there anything that treats this? Or are my trees that develop it, goners?

Some pics of the stuff. On my VPL I peeled back some of the soft mushy bark, seems rather brown and unhealthy. I feel impending doom coming anyways.

Citrus Buy, Sell, & Trade / Rosso Blood Lemon
« on: August 10, 2022, 11:04:45 PM »
I have a few Rosso blood lemons that I’ve managed to root, and graft. I have 3 small rooted cuttings, and 2 grafted trees on US942. All are still young, but I’m wanting to gauge interest to those who are wanting to trade something as they become ready, which may be a few months out yet.

I’m mostly looking for other interesting or hard to find citrus cultivars, such as this rosso blood, that I can expand my collection with.

Being that this particular budwood is not typically for sale in the US, I wish to not name a price, but rather trade. Rosso blood lemon is an Italian variety, however I can’t tell you what it’s use would really be other than ornamental/collectors value. I believe it is high oil content, but I’m more of a visual collector than just for uses. I have seen the fruit coming from this budwood and can attest to it.

Citrus General Discussion / Growing under LED’s
« on: July 28, 2022, 08:25:17 PM »
Do any of you grow with LED’s through the winter? I unfortunately have NO natural light indoors so they must strictly be grown with artificial lighting.

Note I use pretty powerful lighting, in order to replicate full sun, however, as you can already guess, nothing can truly replicate Mother Nature. My plants always start out great and grow well for the first month or so, things start to grow yellow and stressed. I typically keep my lights around 75% (noting that 100% really stressed them out) and on for 14-16 hours, off the rest. I feed them properly and meticulously with a very well balanced fertilizer. I would like to see if anyone else has these sorts of issues and how they go about correcting them before things are needed to come indoors.

The lights I use are a mixture of high output sonofarm LED’s. Links below.

(X1) https://sonofarm.com/product/sonofarm-spider-farmer-sf4000-led-grow-light-full-spectrum-samsung-lm301b-diodes-meanwell-driver/

I just recently moved these trees outdoors after sitting a month or so indoors under these lights.

The same varieties outdoors show no signs of these, and are treated the same otherwise. Are these lights just too much? Can water pH do this? (Ones outside get some rain water obviously along with the hose) as I am on city water. Anyone recommend a good way to test soil pH?

Any input on this situation, I’d appreciate it! Winters are usually incredibly hard, hoping to get through this next one without as much loss. Prepping is key! Lol.

Citrus General Discussion / Half dead scion wood on a graft
« on: April 04, 2022, 06:40:25 PM »
I recently grafted a satsuma, where I thought didn’t take and it died off. To my amazement, it came back, well half of it came back. Seems that half the scion died up the middle and the other half is pushing and growing well. See pic below. Is it worth seeing what this tree will do? I know as it grows, the dead tissue will stay as it is, but will the live tissue slowly grow around it? Just thought it was interesting and wanted to hear some input from others.

Temperate Fruit Buy, Sell, & Trade / ISO Apple Scions
« on: February 28, 2022, 11:03:29 PM »
Looking for various varieties of apples! High chill is fine, live in zone 4A. I do have several things from tropical fruit (lots of citrus) to other unknown high productive apple scions, to rooted cuttings of citrus trees. Or willing to purchase outright.. I have an order of 20 rootstock coming in and hadn’t thought about scions until now! Lol. Interested in just about anything! Prefer varieties that are semi-full self fertile (Granny Smith, golden delicious, etc.)

Citrus General Discussion / LLT lemon and LLT lime
« on: December 04, 2021, 08:07:18 PM »
I just wanted to give this man some recognition. I just had the pleasure of speaking with Mr. Nair about his breeding projects. Such an interesting take and he showed me several successful plants and a great conversation packed full of knowledge. He’s working on other varieties as well. For one that really loves what he does. He is definitely an inspiration of mine for my future work, both professionally and as a hobby.

Citrus Buy, Sell, & Trade / Aus. Blood Lime (aka Red Centre lime) Budwood
« on: November 30, 2021, 07:25:13 PM »
Trade preferred for some interesting varieties! Doesn't have to be citrus, but if not, ones that will root well.

Sale for $15 for 4 sticks, $3 shipping

Note this is pretty thin budwood, as its very dwarf and bushy type, but an interesting variety not commonly sold in the states. Red Centre lime is not Australian red finger lime. They're round and smaller fruits getting a dark Burgundy color. I typically root these as cuttings and they do very well. I have three of those rooted now. The parent tree has fruited multiple times in the past and is currently blossoming.

same variety as this: https://www.citrusmen.com.au/shop/citrus-gems-byron-sunrise-44ewy-fj59t-szmlz-lwfy3-s2mnn-mpbxn

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / ISO coffee
« on: November 02, 2021, 07:20:31 AM »
ISO coffee beans to sprout! I know I can buy them off ebay, but prefer to buy directly from people here!

13
I just wanted to run this by a few more knowledgeable people than I.. I wanted to use the remainder of my cherry stone grit in my citrus containers but wanted to ensure there wouldn’t be drawbacks. It is made of granite stone, no larger than that of turface/smaller pea gravel. Since it’s an igneous rock, I know it has a high mineral content, but they tend not to leach unless in powdered form. Correct me if I’m wrong here?

Large handful of fresh fruits (20+ seeds) for $5, $4 shipping to the US.

Citrus General Discussion / Variegated section on Pink Finger Lime?
« on: September 29, 2021, 02:43:57 PM »
Just wondering what would cause this? Could it be an actual mutation or likely due to chemical treatment and will eventually die off? Just received from a nursery.

Would be cool if I could get this to grow and propagate it, but I fear it’s unlikely.

Citrus General Discussion / Madison Citrus; the very finest
« on: September 15, 2021, 03:13:25 PM »
I don’t normally do this, but I really feel this is well deserved. I wanted to throw another shoutout to Madison Citrus Nursery ran by a really down to earth guy, Hershell.

I just wanted to say, I’ve purchased thousands of dollars of trees from many vendors throughout the US like many of you had, yet in my opinion none compare to those of this quality for the price you pay. On top of that, he offers some crazy rare trees that no one else seems to! He’s just a guy that has an absolute passion for the hobby as we all do, but not out to gouge. I had the pleasure of talking with Hershell when I asked some questions about my trees I bought from him. I have his permission to share some pictures from his nursery about his plants and show that quality I’m talking about.

He’s got some cool stuff coming, various variegated varieties (those that are more uncommon), Red Finger Limes, Giant Finger limes, Amoa 8, and much more.

Citrus General Discussion / FFT (Fast fruiting trifoliate)
« on: August 04, 2021, 02:45:25 PM »
Hoping Laaz has these guys for sale again this fall.. just wanted to show off his variety! Less than 11 months from seed this guy is pushing flower buds. Truly is a Fast Fruiting Trifoliate.

I wonder if the F2 generation will contain the same qualities.

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / ISO Mulberry cuttings to root
« on: June 22, 2021, 07:37:57 AM »
Hello all I’m just looking to get some mulberries. Looking for any varieties that are easier to root. I have quite a few citrus cuttings I can trade, otherwise I’d be happy to pay via PayPal and postage.

23

A very impressive citrus, after only 1.5 years (under not so great conditions) from seed comes flowers. I heard this was true about this cultivar, just amazed to see it myself.

24
I recently got an aquaponics rooting system and I’d like to try it out on several different types and trees to see what it can do. Currently I root some citrus with it. I’d be interested in just about any fruit cutting that takes decently in soils, such as poms, mulberries, etc. I have lots of citrus to trade or I’d be willing to buy via PayPal.

I have to trade (all cuttings!):

Red finger lime
Australian blood lime
Green finger lime

Murcott
Tiger (variegated) Navel
flying dragon
(Very little to spare of this-) Snow Dragon
Limequat
Meiwa kumquat
Nordmann seedless kumquat

Coming from WI, USA
