Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Re: Cecropia obtusifolia
« on: November 10, 2015, 06:49:54 AM »
Thank you sirs!

I have ordered from top tropicals before I'll have to look through their site again and see if this species is in there.

I too a few times a year travel up state to my property in the mid state and panhandle. If I can swing by Excalibur I'll definitely do so. I'll have to see where they are in relation to where I go. Would be awesome to have a large plant to start with! My wife is always traveling with me so I'd have to see how she feels about a detour. Should be all good as she's coming around to my crazy plant hobby. Getting them involved is key lol!

Thanks again! DG

Thanks man for the input. Really the tree is just beautiful the fruit is just a perk. Its possible the other species you mentioned is in fact the one I'm looking for. The guy I talked with only used the genus name to identify the plant while giving the tour on his farm. He's an hour south of me so its possible it may survive here. I'm willing to try for better or worse.

Its also possible what your saying about seed viability. Not sure if he had both a male and female. Had two but the second but it may have been air layered off the bigger one. He didn't go into detail.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry about the last thread in which we weren't so nice to each other!

Anyone have seeds available for this species? Was at a large botanical garden garden recently and this tree is magnificent looking for a tropical accent and apparently has sweet edible fruits. Looking to add this here species to my growing food forest!

Thanks!

Sorry dude wasn't trying to be a total butthole kept it nice at least. Obviously obtaining seeds benefits the receiver no doubt there but like I was saying there is several FL members here...maybe that was the crowd I was looking for like you knew that for sure...before saying what you said. Was nicely trying to defend my position as most would do. Either way do you feel the man should impose what you can and cannot grow? Not even trying to steer this toward things like cannabis but fruit seeds? Greening may very well have come here from a bullshit member like I asking for seeds...probably did. Shouldn't we all be able to grow stuff? Nature does what it does and is what it is I'm sure any unintentionally passed along diseases which are part of the natural order of things where deliberate desires of one just trying to enjoy the pleasures of growing a cool lime tree... We all just love plants here obviously.

Thanks for being so kind...I don't recall defaming you just putting in my bullshit 2 cents. Not saying you should be ashamed for your statements as you are more right than I. Not even gonna try and deny it I'm a real dude who who respects your opinions but a little sarcasm shouldn't make your bottom too sore should it? Nevermind my reasonings though as I'm only defending beliefs you are the one in the actual truly right positioning on this topic.

Again sorry and no worries! The hunt is still on! I'm sure your limes are great sorry I ruined your kindness...no sarcasm seriously!

May I state myself properly...

FL members who don't now believe I'm the biggest wanker on the forum...are there any of these lime seeds out there I ask?

Thanks! DG

I'm very aware but I too am aware there's only a ton of people in FL on this site...thanks for your input though! Its always good to make people aware. However I see that breaking that law is most definitely among the crimes of the highest travesty! How dare someone! I too fully understand why the law is in place so I'm not ignorant to that either in case your wondering. FL's got an agricultural industry to protect after all...

I'll check around in the local Asian stores! Thanks for your directory!

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / looking for some seeds
« on: October 28, 2015, 07:01:32 AM »
Would love some kaffir lime and finger lime seeds/plants of good lineage. Tried messaging people whom have made offers to no avail. Maybe its because I'm new here??? However I've traded with several of you already and bought seeds from several of you.

Can someone I've exchanged with chime in here to show my legitimacy? Maybe that'll help??? Not sure how you build reputation here. I've got tons of rare plants to exchange people and am only looking to diversify my garden more!

Thanks! DG

I have seed pods forming on one of my guarana vines right now. First time ever so I don't know if they'll mature correctly. If they do and I get a bunch I'll offer them up!

Hello! Sorry to be a butthole but I believe you have T. ulmifolia or false damiana. Still usable as a tea and whatever but does not contain the same chemical profile as T. diffusa or true damiana. True damiana has much skinnyer leaves as opposed to the broader leaves your plants have. Again sorry to be a butthole but I'm nearly 100% sure that isn't true damiana.

Let me check my neighbor's vine later today. Good fruit quality muscadine but unknown cultivar. Might be some still on the vine let you know.

Anything in particular you are looking to trade for? Otherwise what price are you asking?

Ya Walmart and home depot have citrus trees all the time. Not that it matters but I like to support real people doing things because they care. I might go a head and buy one of their trees though for convenience. However any exotic citrus not obtainable at the big box stores is way more exciting! Still down to trade for something outta the norm.

Would love to get a cutting of your purple haze dragon fruit. Have wild FL maypop passiflora and also some fairly sizable cherimoya trees from seed of a good fruit. May cost a bit to ship the cherimoya as their in a good size pot and about or over a foot tall. Pm me if interested.

Do you know if these seeds are likely to produce decent fruits? I read that there are some decent eating cultivars but that many are not very good. However its still a good root stock plant either way!  :)

I would absolutely love some of these seeds if you still have them and want to trade or whatever! How long to fruit from seed for these guys?

Very interesting species! I'd assume the fruits are edible? Unfortunately my yard is very dry and it appears to like wet environments. Awesome plant!

Thanks y'all Checked out silver hills site. That is an immensely impressive seeds list! They didn't have the green monkey orange in the list but the black and spiny leafed varieties are there. The spiny says the fruit skin is woody which isn't a big deal but I'm gonna order the black. Thanks for the direction!
