Red Jaboticaba Root Sprouts - Rooting them!
« on: April 20, 2020, 07:16:05 PM »
Today I pulled half a dozen root sprouts from my Red Jaboticaba... with the intention of re-potting them.
They came away with several roots attached.
I potted them up into small containers and placed them in a shady part of my greenhouse.
I pulled one last year and now it's a fine Red Jabo specimen.
Just curious if anybody else had done this.
Thanks.

I always do this while repotting my Red hybrid and I now have several nice plants.

I have been trying a couple and I am not sure that they are going to stay alive. I need to get better at this so I can have more plants!

Are root sprouts unique to Reds or do other Jatos send out root sprouts?

Do root sprouts fruit faster than seedlings?

You save a year or two in growing time.. and you get an exact copy/clone of the mother plant.
I don't see a down side.

Thanks SeaWalnut,
Watched the FFF video... exactly what I did... although I did take a little more care doing it.
Made sure to get roots with each sprout.
