Troubles with Garcinia trees
« on: June 29, 2022, 02:08:09 PM »
My Garcinia trees have yellow leaves and unhealthy look.
I have Garcinia brasiliensis, Garcinia humilis and Garcinia intermedia.
Fertilized + iron (and other elements) regularly.
Sun.
Watered regularly.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Too much sun might be one problem. Stop fertilizing until you figure things out.

What's your PH of your soil and water?

The PH is not terrible. I give my Luc's garcinia a handful of sulphur pellets
every month. Are the trees in full sun? Are they in the ground or in  pots?

I concur that they could be sun stressed. I don’t know if you could experiment with some shade.

Some are in full sun, some partial.
Some in pots, some in the ground.
Are there any special PH needs for Garcinias?

Thanks!

Garcinia brasiliensis and Garcinia humilis are in part shade and they still suffer.
Really strange, I think I tried any combination

I found the lower the PH the better. I throw a handful of Sulphur
pellets every month on Garcinias and jaboticabas. I also fertilize
with epsoma hollytone

Mike thanks for the advice.
It seems that lemondrop mangosteen looks better with sulfur added.
Garcinia Brasiliensis is still very yellow

Our Lemondrop does great in high alk soil with no amendments. It is mostly shaded.

Keeps producing more fruit each time, at least twice a year.
