Ive got 4 in the ground on top of a slope that survived though mostly defoliated. One in a pot on ground level didnt make it. Have had them for 6-8 years. None have flowered yet. Botanical garden has some very old trees (or tree?). Have never fruited. Someone will eventually succeed but prepare for a decade of nothing.

Papaya not a good test case. Citrus, white sapote loquat, mulberry, sweet java plum, guava all do well in my clay.

One of the cross streets just south of whiteys bait and tackle (river oaks?) has a house with several mango trees. I understood from the owner they fruit just fine but wildlife gets most of it.

Many charitable organizations allow you to specify what your donations are or are not to be used for. Try that. Obviously doesnt apply to membership fees.

Is the Lara farms everyone discusses her the one that's 3 miles north of the fruit and spice park?  Stopped by today and besides some beautiful established trees all I saw was a smattering of mango trees all like 20gal.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Yellow strawberry guava: sun vs shade
« on: December 19, 2021, 04:45:11 PM »
I leave mine in full sun and it produces great crops. This year I didn't thin at all and they were just as big as last year when I heavily thinned. Nice little garden snack. It was kind of lanky growing in a more shaded area so I rotated it to full sun.

The ones I have in full sun are nice little snacks too. The ones in shade are a flavor explosion and probably the best fruit I have in my yard.
