Hello, I plan on moving out to a place where it’s zone 8, but I still want to bring my trees with me. How cold can cherimoya trees tolerate? I want to grow cherimoyas
Hello, i watered my plants the other day with a tiny bit of grease on my hands after washing off most of the grease until there were washed out parts that stuck to my hands. Would that tiny bit of grease come off, go into the water, and harm the plants? How long does it take for petroleum damage to show up on plants? Thanks, Matt
Hello, my soursop tree has yellowing leaves and some burns in the middle, is it from the Santa Ana winds? My mango trees all have burning lower leaves on margins and look light green/ somewhat chlorofic. Some of the leaves also come out deformed, will they live? Thanks, Matt
Hello, I have a el bumping cherimoya tree with tip burn and some yellowing leaves, is this because of the Santa Ana’s? It reached 102 with 19 percent humidity.
Hello, I got 10 green star apple seeds in the garage right now, and they haven't germinated for 3 months. When I cracked one open, it was sort of firm/soft like a ripe cherimoya. Is that normal? What is the usual sprouting time for star apple? Thanks, Matt
Hello, I've been wondering about my hardiness zone, as there are some weird stuff that grows outside just fine in my microclimate. As My neighbor has Lobster claw Heliconias that don't freeze in the winter(NORTH FACING), also Monstera deliciosas and Kentia palms grow fine without protection. Lime trees also do well without protection, so do tomatos. Jackfruits and soursops do well too, didn't have to protect mine much during cold winter this year. Also I noticed that while my friends at school said they had icicles on their roofs last year, my neighbors said that there weren't any, nor did I see any. I am 263 feet above sea level. Cavendish bananas also fruit consistently as I've seen. It's been bizzare to say the least. I've been trying to pull of Langsats and Durians recently, as I love those fruits, wonder how far I can get with them? What type of Climate am I? I get Ocean Winds in the Afternoon to counteract santa anas, and the humidity is an avg of 50 percent I'd say. The USDA Zone says I'm 10b, and my sunset zone is 23. I've been debating that it might be zone 11a with the microclimate fluctuation here. If I'm zone 11a or 11b, do you guys think I should try langsats or Durians under some large trees to create an even more humid atmosphere? Thanks, Matt
Hello, I was looking for a tropical tree to use as both shade for my front yard parking and taste good. What should I do? The trees I had in mind are the following, I would love contributions and suggestions too
Star apple Abiu Cac mango Royal poinciana Jacaranda Pierce cherimoya
Hello, my mango seedling was suffering from anthracnose, and now large dry dead spots are forming on the old leaves, will it die? I've sprayed agri fos and copper fungicide weekly, and i removed the shade cloth a few days ago.
Hello, I have pindaiba, duguetia peruviana, star apple, pitangatuba, junglesop, how long will they sprout? I just simply planted them straight into the soil
Hello, I just recently planted a mango seedling, and i see dark, sunken spots that seem to be spreading from leaf to leaf, and tip burn is starting to occur on the new and old leaves. I just sprayed copper octonoate on it to kill off the active spores. Will it kill the tree? Thanks, Matt
Hello guys, I just wanted to share with you my first mango seedling planted. I hope it survives! It was rootbound so I planted it in sandy loam, 1/4 inch covered the seed, 2 separate sprouts, mulched it with happy frog mulch, and no roots were damaged. Do rabbits eat mango leaves, they don't seem to, but you always have to be careful:D. I have it under a drip line that runs 3x a day 10 minutes each.
Hello, I got Pindaiba seeds a month ago, and I heard from Oscar that they need Gibberelic acid to germinate properly. Can it work without the acid? And are there other methods to break dormancy? Thanks, Matt
Hello, my Sweet tart mango seedling seems to have a brown streak across the lower stem, Eill it kill it? Or is it harmless. And if it kills it, what should I do to prevent my precious little seedling from dying? Thanks Matt. The leaves look perfectly normal, but the stem is another story.
Hello, recently I planed a bunch of seedlings, and I was wondering if I should keep them in the garage or put them outside to grow. I would love some advice. Thanks, Matt
Hello, it seems that the lychee tree has horribly distorted leaves, along with some dieback after the 100 degree heat wave. The mango tree has distorted new growth, along with some bug holes, and some of the leaves are burning up. What is going on, and what can I do to stop this? I've been watering a ton since this heat wave.I also recently fertilized with soil conditioner from happy tree frog. I also have a Carbon filter for an irrigation system I installed
