@toadtreenursey ! I always forget to post, but I try to hashtags all my plants on instagram so you can just follow the # and look at all the other picture of rare plants. I personally find it easier to snap a picture and post for my own future reference. if zuckerberg starts taking an interest in rare tropical fruits I hope he can bring down the price on some of em, or hire me as a tropical fruit influencer, I'll bring you all along.

Next time you have 2 scions around I can try putting them on a mamey to see what happens. I have some little mameys I am waiting around for mamey scions but would happy to try a lucuma on them.

Hello,
I was curious if anyone has imported citrus trees from Japan to the USA. I tried to make sense of the CITEs and APHIS permit websites but I didn't quite grasp what I needed to do as a buyer. I am trying to purchase citrus trees from Japan but the inspection officer in Japan is saying citrus trees cannot be shipped to USA.

Herrania are considred wild mountain Cacao-
I picked up some fresh Herrania umbratica and Herrania mariae from Bryan at montoso gardens. Great seller, and ships the actual fruit so you can try them. I really liked the Umbratica taste. Lemony but also, not a very big pod .... Have one that is growing, all the other ten didn't live for me. I should have planted more but I used the rest to try and make cocoa nibs. None of the mariae I planted sprouted. I really want to grow a forastero cocoa but they look like they get big. Good to know you have some in your greenhouse Carolyn. I might try to put one in mine.

Just chiming in as an out-of-zone tropical grower, I think I can speak for a lot of people here and say your set up is amazing. Thats the type of build I would go for if space and money were not an issue.
Also, @Brian, so sad to hear about the Kepel not growing well. Kepel is my white whale, but I think I'll have to bite the bullet and just go to where it grows naturally to try it.

Hi ! I've got a little greenhouse in Vancouver Wa, zone 8b. I have a pouteria obsession after eating mamey, so I've managed to fill my greenhouse with a bunch of plants that will probably get far too large in a few years. Currently I just have a cheap plastic greenhouse from Amazon that has decimated my heating bill this winter, but I am looking to build a permanent lean-to against my house this summer. I just put 4 pradosia Brevipes seeds in pots so I'm hopeful those will sprout. Also have mamey, butter sapote, ross, ducke, P transclucida, P viridis and P venosa growing. I also have a some eugenia and plinia growing. This forum and its members have opened my eyes to just how many tropical fruits there are, and how few are available in Washington state. But we get amazing blueberries, raspberries, cherries and apples up here. (which I have growing outside of the greenhouse)

Good luck! I always feel like I'm fumbling around in the winter. Between underwatering/ overwatering/ feeding / pruning things in the greenhouse without stressing them out and watching them be stressed out from coming in....It's a battle fellow zone pusher, keep up the good fight.

I never got to that stage since I keep losing my plant but I did have a pretty bad spider mite infestation in mid summer.If mine ever holds some fruit I'll send you some seeds! I could try rooting some cuttings once I feel its not going to die on me.

I have in a 3g pot, but its leaves curl at the end. They get all rubbery in spots (picture 1) and then curl up and are misshapen (2nd picture). . Any advice would be appreciated. I water after dirt dries out, I have sprayed it several times with organic pesticides and not visible bugs on the tree. It keeps flushing out new leaves so I admire its spirit to not die.
