Interesting. Would love to have a wood.
Thank you!Please PM to me.

Kamado, Haruka is an interesting tip. Sounds really good what I have read about it. Do you know how hardy it is? I have read that it is mainly grown in Southern Japan.

My favorite is F. obovata (Changshou kumquat). Peel is sweet and pulp is sweet with a wonderful mandarine flavour.

Thank you for your reply. Haruka is slightly weaker than Unshu  as far as I know. Thank you for letting me know your favorite citrus fruit!

In japan, Glauca was grafted on Flying Dragon.
I don’t know if that’s the reason, but I think it grows relatively fast in Japan.

I always thought that pure glauca is 100% zygotic.
Are these plant some sort of  hybrids? They look amazingly uniform in appearance.
There is a grafting professional in Japan. They are called "Tsugikishi."(that means "graftmans")
When they graft, they produce surprisingly uniform seedlings in thousands to tens of thousands.

I am currently here to see them.Actually, we were supposed to meet from today, but they had urgent business, so it's tomorrow.
They welcomed me as a disciple.I am learning grafting from them.

I don't know the details. However, I think there are several types of Citrus glauca in Japan.
this sounds like the beginning of an awesome anime...  Kamado:the mightiest disciple

why so many glaucas though?  does japan have any deserts?  i think that the main benefit of glauca would be to develop more drought tolerant varieties of citrus.  is there another benefit?

based on the few threads i've read here it seems like the priority is improving citrus cold tolerance.  i guess more people live in colder areas than drier areas?

I am only 4 years apart from the animation Kamado.I want to make an effort to be the strongest like him.

I agree with what other members have mentioned.I think that Japanese appreciate Citrus glauca trees as beautiful. It is also popular among people who want to grow citrus trees in their gardens because it is resistant to disease.

Are these trees at a University or Botanical Garden ?
No,my business office.

The fruit evaluation data from NARO is kind of neat. Anyone know what "drip amount" in the evaluation data is? I can't seem to find any other sources using "drip amount" in citrus evaluation. Is that just the amount of leakage from the fruit, or something else?

Sorry,I am study English now.

What is ‘Drip amount’?

15
Asumi or Asuki?

Asuki

Asumi

This fruits is ‘Asumi’.

I saw the 'Asumi' website.
The photo on that page is not 'Asumi'. The photos are all of 'Okitsu46', the parent cultivar of 'Asumi'.

16
Hi everyone,

I eat ‘Asumi’ in Japan.

It’s new citrus released inJapan in 2012.

THe Citrus is very sweet.
Most fruits have a sugar content of more than 15%!

‘Asumi’ was born by crossbreeding ‘Okitsu 46’ and ‘Harumi’.

‘Okitsu46’ is  descended from ‘Sweet Spring’(C.unshu x C.hassaku) and ‘Trovita Orange’(C.sinensis).
‘Harumi’ was born by crossbreeding ‘Kiyomi’(C.unshu x C.sinensis) and Ponkan(C.poonnensis).

So,’Asumi’ have 4 genes of Citrus.

« on: January 30, 2023, 08:05:04 AM »
Yes, Yuko on that site and the fruit in my photo are the same. However, I have a question about the taste. I don't think you can eat this citrus with the peel. It is said that Japan has a custom of eating citrus fruits with the skin on, but most Japanese do not eat the skin.

Best Reards,
