Citrus > Cold Hardy Citrus
Is there a potential in a Prague citsuma orchard in temperate climate?
lajos93:
Plan A is to plant a bunch of these in Zone 7b
Plan B if Plan A doesnt work out is to use them as hedge that bears tasty fruit
Why hasnt it been done before nowhere in the world?

I think you also asked this on Facebook?
If it's a passion/hobby orchard, sure you can try it. You can sell the fruits, but it's still a hobby investment.
You might be able to sell some locally, but commercial stores will offer you less money for them than what the time, money and effort to grow them requires.
Commercially it doesn't make much sense. Prague is not very productive. Besides the fruit quality and hardiness, it's a shitty growing plant. Cheaper to grow satsuma's in Italy and transport them to Hungary.
Peep:
Maybe someone else has experience with this, but I'm also not sure if you'd get the fruit to consistently ripen every year when in zone 7B, unless growing them in a greenhouse.
Although Prague has good fruit, the quality of regular Satsumas should still be higher, especially when grown in sunny climates.

I thought the flavor was as good as store bought fruit. The problem is getting the tree to produce fruit. I am still struggling to get one fruit. An advantage of growing citrus outside of the usual areas is that you will not need pesticides. An Owari grown outside of the citrus zone has blemish free fruit without pesticides.
Virginia Fruit Grower on his channel discussed the problem of lack of fruit with Stan.

I thought about doing this, even if as a small scale operation on Etsy or Facebook groups, selling a small sample box of my hardy stuff not just the Prague but also my hardy poms. But there are always risks as some of those platforms tend to collect Karens that will complain and demand money back if the fruit isnt to their liking so describing your offering is important to protect your bottomline.
I am planting my taitri cuttings to graft Prague to so that it grows quickly. Already have 4 Prague 1 on flying dragon, 1 on pure poncirus, and 2 on taitri. Have 2 more taitri that are growinig now and will wait to graft.
