sugar apple or atemoya
« on: October 24, 2013, 07:43:23 PM »
My friend's tree  has a couple of fruits for for the first time. I can't if it's a sugar apple or a atemoya. Any guess on the variety? What do you guys think?
Thanks!

They look like Minh Atemoyas although the middle photo could be a runt Lisa from its coloring but then again flash photo could be deceiving.

nice Lisa!!

the Big red reminds me of Lisa...which makes me think big red is a kampong mauve seeding (FLgreenman never did specify what the big reds origins were...I think I can still hear crickets)

either way, I think they are all excellent fruits.  You must have both sugar apples and atemoyas if possible...because they never make enough fruit to satisfy demand!

very nice Atemoya and earlier than our cherimoyas.  I havent tried the Big Red but I've had plenty of kampong mauve they are not in the same league. The nice thing about Lisa is that it has very few seeds...this one had 12. Adam, when do your Lisa's ripen? I've harvest 8 since last week and they ripen in 2-3 days.

JF, Lisa looks very yummy and beautiful. I'm so happy to have this in my collection. Can wait to get to try it! The fruits in these pictures are from my friend's tree. I did not share any budwood with her.

interesting but it is definitely some kind of atemoya. There are quite a few out there that have been mislabeled and unidentified. Mr Minh's atemoya gets quite large and it has a tendency to slip after 2 pounds. Keep us updated on this one. .
